 why are men so blummin' frustrating?!?!?!

OH and I had a big row this evening as neither of us has any money until payday next week and he was moaning about doing the washing up without liquid, there's a big bottle of stardrops next to the sink so I suggested he uses that (as I have on many occasions before) and he started going on at me saying "I don't buy into all this tightfisted s*** of yours, just buy some f***ing washing up liquid that has Fairy written on it instead of this cheapo carp" which escelated into a huge row over neither of us having any money, then when I asked him where he thought all the food had been coming from these last 3 weeks (I've been doing a storecupboard challenge and managed 3wks worth of meals) he started on at me again about not caring about spending loads of money on food

I just feel so deflated now, as I try so hard to make sure everything in the flat is paid equally so that I pay my share, as OH is salaried and gets a decent wage, whereas I'm a PT student working PT in retail so as you imagine, don't have much spendable income. So I work hard to make sure food etc is done as cheap and healthily as possible, meaning that in theory he should have loads of disposable income each month, but he just spends it on carp and it's gone within a week of his payday

    Why are men such tools?!?!

Sorry, needed to rant at someone :)

Nothing to give you but hugs I'm afraid. Money is the only area where my DH is not difficult and he truly appreciates every meal I cook him and every way I save money.

(Although he didn't appreciate it when I moaned at him for spending £6 on 4 tea towels today)

Do you reckon that only one of a couple must be a moneysaver as all of us who come on here (male and female) seem to moan about their partners spending habits :D

taplady you might not see this but I hope you do. Ask your son if he drinks coffee and/or cola during the day. Suggest he cuts all of it out. It could well be the caffeine keeping him awake

Nytol causes drowsiness the next morning. If your son needs to be alert then don`t give it until friday night

thanks kittie, yes he does drink coffee! will have to get him to try cutting it out completely!

edited to say ((((hugs)))) to Roz xxx

lol, think i must be one of the lucky ones, hubbie is fab apart from he seems concerned about using stardrops as washing up liquid. he seems to think 14p stuff would be better. i'm not sure but i explained that stardrops is better for the environment so therefore should be better for your dishes?

Totally agree with chardonnay, make him make as good a meals and buy cleaning stuff for the price you have!!
I use stardrops for washing up and have done since finding this site, keep your chin up, maybe point out what he will have to go without beer, new clothes ect if you start to buy brand names again and start spending loads on food again

Yes stardrops is slightly more costly than 14p washing up liquid, but the amount you have to use off the 14p stuff to make any bubbles is silly, where as a few drops of stardrops and bubbles a plenty.
