There is good reason why I excluded Teachers and specialist professionals because City traders dont tend to be classed as professions so I was trying to keep it like with like. Business jobs in business.

Okay then, what about banking? Senior Strategy Analysist £30-35k. Finance/accounting? Financial Analyst £23ish-28ish. Graduate training scheme roles? Graduate/Trainee for an IT firm £21-23k.

They are no where near as numerous in the North than in London though, sso the proportion of well paid jobs is far less in the north.

So the competition's greater. That'll sort the sheep from the goats.

Dependent on which sector you are looking at. If you don't like it, move. Simple answer to a simple problem.

Heres a song for you phil

The Sword of Damocles is hanging over my head
And I've got the feeling someone's gonna be cutting the thread
    Oh, woe is me
    My life is a misery
    Oh, can't you see
That I'm at the start of a pretty big downer
I woke up this morning with a start when I fell out of bed

Maybe it is, but how do you get all these jobs unless you know someone who works there?

Work your way up from where is the question?
