City workers salaries

What do people make of them getting tens of thousands in bonuses?
Really they don't work any harder than many nurses or charity workers for example, so it could be seen as pure greed rather than healthy rewards.

Good Luck to them.
How can it be seen as pure greed? - its a job & the bonus is offered to them as a reward for acheiving targets. They have to work hard, I imagine, to acheive, so why shouldn't they take the reward if it is offered.
Would you refuse a bonus on top of your salary if it was offered and say 'no thanks, that'd be greedy'? I dont think anyone would.
WEll, I wouldn't
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

They work bl00dy hard - a lifetime's work in a short period usually. They age quickly and most burn out in their 30s. Their pay reflects the fact that they half kill themselves to meet targets (which are usually about making the company billions).

I am sure even I could sit there and press about on my Spreadsheets and I am nothing special.
What they do does not seem hugely special but maybe the hours and graft are.:beer:0 -

They do a hell of a lot more than "press about on their spreadsheets". Could you forecast share prices etc? I know I couldn't!
Doesn't mean that nurses, charity workers etc are not worth their weight in gold. Just that money talks and hefty bonuses reflect the levels of profit they are making for their employers."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -

Well just go do it then, there's nothing stopping you, and if you too end up as knackered each day as brazilianwax says yon city workers are, then you will be far too f****** tired to log onto MSE when you have finished whooping it up with the other fat wallets..... And that IMHO sounds like a result all round..... Right kids?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand relax.

So does the home share investor to be honest. They look at Economic data and company data and make similar Estimates.:beer:0
