It is true - you've got absolutely no excuse. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, and start doing something to make your life better. What makes you think that you are so special you should have everything handed to you on a plate? It doesn't work like that. If you don't take, you don't get.

I dont think I should be handed anything. There are many people who have worked hard in life for almost nothing, so it is not given that hard work will bring you anything.

I have done lots to ensure I get on in life built my IT and business knowledge, worked hard at school, done things outside of my education.

Sure - you (generic) have the absolute freedom to go through life passively as a victim. The choice is there to be made.

No one is being a victim, hard work does in ensure you get anywhere as many people work hard in life and get nothing.

Aterthought on my previous post, there could be some pickings for Transwatfordania if London chokes on itself transport/social/enivionmental/pollution/terrrorist/living-quality etc.-wise so it is by no means a forlorn hope after all.

eDIT AND THE NEXT THING I SAW ON THE SITE WAS "No trains out of Liverpool Street"
    6TH SENSE i'VE GOT I HAVE!
The whole system is suspended, so if you're trying to get into or out of London tonight, check before you set off.@
Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.

Does that mean we should just give up and not bother? I like the sound of that, I think I'll just stop fighting so hard, I'll just let this beat me...

I look at companies like HAYs and Reed which are meant to have a good selection of jobs and the vast majority of jobs that earn over 25k in the North are recruitment consultants and Sales Managers.

Phil, what on gods green earth are you on about? Have you actually looked on these job sites recently?? I just have and there are loads on non recruitment consultant and sales manager positions in the £20,000 to £40,000 salary bracket. Everythig from gas engineers to teachers.

At the end of the day, wages are lower in the north because the cost of living is comparatively lower than in the south. A lot of service industries are based in the north. There are many call centres up here, yes. But just because you work in a call centre doesn't mean you will be stuck with a headset glued to your ears all day. There are also a lot of other industries you can look into. Local government pays well for example. Over £25,000 is to me, living in West Yorkshire a pretty good salary. Obviously there will be people who earn way above that but for someone in their 20's (just!) who has taken time out to have a child I would be happy with that.

Face it, big business is not suddenly going to up sticks and shift operations up north just because some people think they should. They will stay where they are known, where they already employ top level staff etc.

There is good reason why I excluded Teachers and specialist professionals because City traders dont tend to be classed as professions so I was trying to keep it like with like. Business jobs in business.

Me neither. Shall I bother going in tomorrow or just throw a sickie? We're short staffed but its just too much hassle. I'm never going to achieve anything so why put myself out a bit? ;)
