One thing I have remembered from the last 2 winters is how difficult it was to see at night when I wasdriving home from work - the lights from the oncoming cars seem to blur and refract in my windshield no matter what I clean it with AND its a new windshield. Is there anything I can reliably use - either cleaner or screen or something to stop me driving like a VERY old lady at 25 mph and annoying all the other road users????

Me too! Especially when it is raining and the glare from the headlights is reflected. My drive to/from work is up and down hills between lots of parked cars. Have to breathe in, shut my eyes and pray.

Had to go back to old thread for my list - I thought I had a copy on laptop but cant find it so here I am starting again......................................

Thanks to Rainy Days I now have a list of what i need to do and its terrifyingly long:eek::eek::eek::eek::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Winter Checklist

Clothes
Wash all coats, scarves gloves
Find cosy jumpers and cardigans

[STRIKE]Repair or buy new socks[/STRIKE]
Put away all your summer clothes in either those vacuum bags or in a suitcase for the following year
Polish all shoes and boots
Go back through clothing checking what you need and what you
need to replace. Think - what will I wear - what do I need?
All handbags sorted through and cleaned/leather treated and stored

Food
Stock up on tinned products such as soup, rice pudding, baked beans and spaghetti. These items will keep as good store cupboard standbys.
Soup, beans and general long life bits and bobs bought in.
Check and clean out your freezer, make a list of what you have and what you need to buy in. Keep at least two loaves of bread in the freezer. Stock up from butcherIf anything crops up on BOGOF and it will keep/freeze for winter buy it and store it.
Make a start on your Christmas food shopping list, allot of it can be frozen.
Buy in sacks of potatoes direct from a farmer, it will be cheaper than buying individual bags form the supermarket- protect them from frost in garage or shed.
put milk in freezer

House and garden
get chimney swept and checked if suitable for using if not find out about a stove

Blimey Toots - it would take me till next Summer to get that lot done!! Take it easy x

Dark Rev - WOW - stunning piccy of you, lovely!!

Money, or lack of it, has halted all plans for the moment [have to concentrate on Xmas now] but I'm still lurking and "borrowing" ideas where I can, at least I have done a lot that wouldn't of been done before I started lurking on here. Some things will need to be carried over for next year but at least I'm aware of what they are

Hi all.
Been to the local tip today and bought 3 pairs of door length curtains for £20.... bargain! Also got a folding table for the kitchen (one of those that attaches to the wall), a mirror and an iPod docking station (brand new sealed in box), all for a grand total of £5 for all 3! :T
(our tip has a HUGE shop which sells anything that has been left which is still in usable condition)

My friend has also donated a thick double duvet cover which I will make into another curtain.

I have some spare shower curtain rails which I shall adapt in to curtain poles and will make some tabs tops for the curtains so I don't have to buy any rings or hooks.

I am doing winter MSE style :money:

• Hello :0) I'm new and would like to introduce myself. I came across this forum from another site, and I'm already preparing for winter.

This weekend me and my OH had a late Autumn spring clean, we went to B and Q and got some storage boxes and starting de- cluttering! I felt much better after, and we chucked some stuff out. I have just been looking thought this thread and starting making a list :)

So far I have

- Get a fleece blanket for the bed
- get some life long milk
- get de- icer
- Do a stock cupboard check and top up on porridge, tea and toilet roll

But at the moment I'm washing our gloves, hats and scarfs
