I can second the vinyl, particularly if you have a gardening DH and an enthusiastic hound who is into MUDDDDDDD!!! Carpet + those two is bad in the extreme, Vinyl + those two is managable and washable - for me happiness!Cheers Lyn.0

I'm getting a new kitchen ceiling tomorrow so am humming and erring whether to get some cushioned vinyl flooring to go over the wood flooring (stone underneathe that). My kitchen has never fully been done in 5 years because of the ceiling needing doing, so now is a good chance to have it all nice, and I have no heating source in there, an extra floor layering would warm it up. I bet it'll cost quite a bit though as it's a long kitchen. If it wasn't for the cats I would carpet... desicians desicians.
Go for the vinyl. It's warm & easily washable.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Another vote for the vinyl, it's definitely warmer than tiles and laminate. And a bit kinder if you drop stuff too!0

Definitely go for the vinyl.. it is slightly warmer and washable and no gaps to loose crap down.
if you need extra warm when it gets super cold cardboard on the top is snug, free and far easier to replace!.. and get your slippers on!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I did my living room in vinyl and its fab. Its laid it myself about 7 years and looks good whereas with the comings and goings here a carpet the same cost would be well worn. Its easy to clean, warm under foot and we just chuck a cheap rug in the middle to cheer it up. It wasnt the most expensive vinyl either, it was a bargain piece, we have a long living room and it only cost £150, a carpet would have been a lot more than that for the same quality.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
I got the 2 fleece blankets and hot water bottles from Tesco they were great and im glad that i forked out for them this year after going cold last year. But the candles which i thought were a bargain turned out to be not at all what i expected so i will be taking those back and in a way kind of think its for the best, saves me which i can use elsewhere right now and i might ask mum for some for christmas or keep my eyes peeled on freegle.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0

brrr there's a decided nip in the air and i smell people burning leaves mmmm love that smell
been dehydrating fruit leathers today, a mix of foraged apples and rose petals with some brown spotty bananas and a huge catering tin of plums i got for £1.50. threw in some nutmeg and cinnamon and i tasted a wee corner earlier, very scrumptious0 -
Thanks, I'm going to go for the vinyl yay, but it'll have to wait till next year now as I'm going to have to fork out £40+ to repaint my kitchen now. I thought I would get away with just one pot but the builders kind of ruined my walls today, I am glad getting new ceilings is not a common occurance1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31

 Having a bit of a panic!:o
Some of you may remember that I had surgery on my left foot around this time last year ..... unfortunately, it's not been successful and the foot is errrrr not fixed.
I've been struggling with the clutch for months and have finally admitted defeat and swapped to an automatic (on Tuesday!:) - it's taking a wee while to get used to it!).
Anyway - does anyone have an automatic?
I was taught to slow down in ice / snow etc using my gears and never to touch the breaks and now having a panic about how on earth you do that when you don't have breaks :eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
