Well a few miles north.
Hi Happytails, I'm not local no but its been a family tradition for many generations. I first went with my grandparents 28 years ago, then my Mum joined us. Now its just me and my Mum. My Gran is still with us but felt it wouldn't be the same without my Grandpa (he passed away last year). We normally head down to Blackpool for a week and since my Mum and I know all the good shopping places we do a huge amount of shopping whilst there. I find everything there much better value than I can get it near me (e.g. I got a dress there for £8 that I had seen here for £40). I find everyone really friendly and helpful and we always come back with a car load of stuff (Mum and I are quite famous at the hotel we stay at for being able to pack so much into a medium sized hatch back).CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Who sells the softest, warmest, snugglest (should be a word;)) fleece blanket?
It's for my mum who is elderly, to put over herself during the day.
One of those fleece things with sleeves is no good as she's short now and following a stroke has limited movement.
She loves her fleece dressing gown but it's not practical during the day.
Ikea ones not soft/snuggly enough.
The ribbed fleeces I mentioned in my earlier post from B&M are very snuggly and soft.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Hi
In my local b&m today they had packs of two fleeces for £3.99. They were mixed colours, not a pair the same colour, but I managed to get 2 black, 2 grey, 2 cream, a red and a coffee colour, for less than £16. The matching pairs I'll use for the front windows lol.
I also got 2 single quilts £4.50 each in wilkinsons. These are for the children, they have toddler quilts at the mo, which might end up being used underneath the mattress cover, for extra insulation, when it gets colder (brrr my feet are cold now!). I've got some tension rods for £3 something from the range, and they also had thick ladies sports socks £2 for 3 pairs, or £5 for 3 packs. So I've got 1 set for now and put 2 away in the stash box.
I think that's it. Seem to have been everywhere today!Bossymoo

No B and M here unfortunately, nearest one 4 hours round trip by public transport or if I drive across London 5 hours.

I bought one of these from John Lewis just before Christmas. It is seriously soft and snuggly and drapes beautifully. They aren't really, really thick, but I find it lovely and warm and usually fold it in half and wrap it round me/over me. Great size too, I may buy another this year.

Annie123, what bigger shops do you have near you? That way people can recommend what they've bought in those stores.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. That's just the sort of thing, but would have to use mail order but that would be OKunixgirluk wrote: »Annie123, what bigger shops do you have near you? That way people can recommend what they've bought in those stores.
In spite of living in London, not much near me so I go to Croydon on the tram for bigger things. There I've got; M&S, BHS, Next, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Primark, Ikea at a push.My Mum got a really thick warm snuggly fleece from BHS, in the sale think it was £12 so not a cheapy but she loved it so much she bought my Nan and Dad one and they all sit snuggled up! she has also washed it loads and still looks good as new.
Just looked on BHS web site and they have waffle fleeces, but don't look very fluffy.
The John Lewis one is ahead unless anyone knows of any others up to around the £20 mark.
Mum has a very 'little world' these days and little things are so important to her.0 -
The best fleecy I have is from Primark, believe it or not! Bought it for a pound two years ago in their end of winter sale, but they seem to have them every year. It's slightly ribbed looking and they do lots of colours. I'm a bit of a blankie addict, and this is my go-to one for snuggling up on the sofa! It's plenty big enough for going on top of my duvet too
Alternatively, the Irma IKEA fleeces are also great.

Primark do some very, very soft fleece blankets every winter in a few different colours. They cost me about £4 a few years ago but I have seen them available each year. They do bigger ones at about £10 or so.
They are almost fluffy, but they wash well on 30 and dry in no time.
I have 4 of them, one for each of us to prevent a fight breaking out. Everyone wants one!0
