    Congratulations Nanny x

A very light dusting of snow for us (West Yorkshire) it is still snowing but it is very fine. Boys cricket nets have been cancelled so that's me in for the rest of the day.

    Keep warm.

  • Oh that is fantastic news - and I love her names, I adore Molly always wanted one of my daughters to have that name but hubby loathes it. She is a wee ray of sunshine now to keep your hearts warm.

Now thenanny you are a nanny ( will you be called that or grandma, I opted for grandma as that is what we called the only grandparent I knew, then mum wanted to be grandma so seemed right to me). My sons children call her mum nanny as that is what was used in her family.

Sending lots of love and congratulations to everyone, enjoy your present buying

Thanks to all of you for your congratulations. :T

Nope, I'm determined to be called Granny; I've worked as a Nanny for the past twenty years so, although I called both my Grandmothers "Nanny", that didn't seem appropriate and Molly's Dad's Mum will be "Grandma". Lucky little blighter has three sets of Grandparents (I'm actually Step-Granny) and her Mum's Mum has Polish origins and has decided to use the Polish name Babcia. So, no confusion for Molly. ;)

We got a refund through from N Power yesterday so our shopping trip was guilt free. We've been to all the posh shops in town and taken advantage of the sales.

Settled next to the woodburner now and waiting to hear when Molly's home then we'll take a careful drive through the snow to meet her.

We are forecast snow in Northampton! It is due tonight according to the BBC and Pitsford weather but could be followed by sleet/rain so not sure what we'll wake up too.

I am soooooooooooooooooo stressed - Some of you might remember the 4/5 days I had no washing machine last winter as it froze up.

    Well guess what?

I am sooooooooo mad. I am going on hols next week and only have 3 days to get everything sorted and now I have no damned WM.

I have put the TD on in there (energy bills ) in the hope that that will defrost it - have poured hot water all over the pipes that I can get to and they are flexible so they can't be frozen solid... I hope its just the machine as the TD SHOULD eventually defrost it.

In the meantime I have poured so much water outside that it will be an ice rink tomorrow and Monday when I have to keep nipping out there to do all the washing... assuming I can get it going.

    :(

I put a load on this morning not realising the outlet must be frozen so it wont' drain now .Hope yours gets sorted

Got mine sorted (took 3 hours and 2 trips to Wickes) but same thing happened to me - wouldn't drain.

I tried to take the drain cover off the front but it would only turn, not come off but I heard some movement so I kept on moving it back and forth, tipped the machine up and back violently until I heard it move again... Then there were some scary sounds whilst the ice worked its way thru

    and now its working!!!

    Snowing here currently!!

Today I took my hairdryer and extension lead up to the stables as the water pipe was frozen solid - despite me lagging the pipe well! So I had the dryer on it and it defrosted the pipe well - for anybody who has frozen pipes then this would work just as well for you.

I walked the dogs up the lane in the snow just after 4pm and although cold it felt good in a strange sort of way that all the preparation was worth it. I was begining to think that someone might have me sectioned for a while with me saying snow is deffo coming :rotfl:My suede snow boots that I heavily waterproofed last year did the job really well and it was nice to see the snow forming pools of water on my boots so that I know the protection is doing it's job.

It is all forecast to get much milder again next week - I don't mind that so much because doing the horses in this weather is dire. Three times today I have smashed the ice in their buckets in the stables and the field troughs had thick ice in them.

Sky dish is not receiving signal due to snowfall  what do you know a light dusting and it goes into cannot be bothered to receive signal drive!!
