  • Ah well! So much for MY winter preparations. The electric blanket conked out last night. It's still under guarantee, so in the meantime I'll have to buy a hot water bottle. (snivelling and wiping my nose on my sleeve)

Poundland have some good ones. Means you won't have to spend a lot before you get your new electric blanket
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

The Met Office are now saying we are definitely going to get snow as the cod air will win out against the warm front bringing rain which will turn to snow onces it hits the cold wall. It is looking like we are going to get it Saturday pm-ish.

I shall whizz around like a dervish getting all the jobs done on Saturday so that when the snow hits it is only the horses that will need to be fed and battened down for the night.

Thank you for the info, you're a pet. Everything I've touched this past week seems to have broken. Even managed to burn yesterday's dinner to a cinder. I'm not safe to be around at the moment.

*chap chap chaps against the monitor screen* anyone out there?

considering all the bad weather that's supposed to be coming i'd have expected a load of chatter but the last post i see was a joke about fish, starting to wonder if either something is wrong with my connection to the group or you're all buried under tons of snow (that we're missing, AGAIN) and can't get on your computers!

hope everyone is safe and warm!

oh whilst i'm thinking of it, sports direct has loads of slippers on sale for less than £2 i bought another pair for myself for next year, a pair for a family member for christmas next year (will go great with the free dressing gown i got her from a la redoute order!) and another pair of the no fear mens black gloves (£3.99) those gloves are brilliant, i'd already ordered a pair when they had the jackets on sale as i got a jacket thought i'd throw them in too, well worth buying

you can only buy 3 daily sales item per order and postage is 3.99 but today i got a serious pair of ski gloves and 2 pairs of slipper boots for £11.56 delivered and the other day it was only £11.97 for a adults jacket and ski gloves delivered, what a bargain and so useful in the upcoming weather http://www.sportsdirect.com/daily-deals
  • Right, at last it looks as if the winter prep might have been worth it! Snow is due here in about six hours.

Of course, in typical fashion, I'm almost out of milk, so I have to get some this morning, but, much more importantly, I have to buy presents...

    Big news - I'm a Granny. :j:j:j

Molly Maria was born at 10.50 last night. I'm a happy thing today. ;)

    aww bless, congratulations!
  • Morning, we had sun up till 20 mins ago and now its gone dull, overcast and sky is looking very heavy, a look of about to give birth about it and as its -2 out there I doubt its rain. As bad weather is expected hubbys work had the newspapers printed two hours earlier so they could be delivered before it hit so he is already home now which means we can pop out to places we need to go hopefully before things get to bad.

So definitely a day I put some thing on my feet other than just shoes, I loathe wearing socks or tights but I think wearing socks today is not an option but a must.

One plus about this cold snap is its good for the garden, and if we can just have a bit more sun and much less rain ( it rained nearly every day last year) then we have a chance of having a semi decent crop - so long as I can keep the snails and slugs from plants. I was reading something yesterday written by some top gardener who was saying fruit trees and bushes need a good cold snap to ensure budding ( head a bit wonky this morning so might not have remembered the reason correctly) but they do need this I do remember that.

    Stay warm and safe everyone
