  • Ok this is the first link I have ever done so it may not work but at least I've tried.I have read on here in the past about snow shovels and spotted this in one of my emails, thought it might help someone as it doesn't seem over priced to me. http://new.ukdvdr.co.uk/product.php?product=LW-130&nav=1057&title=Sumo+Snow+Shovels

Actually you are best to burn logs without a grate as they burn the best on a bed of ashes.

If you dont have a build up of ashes a pile of dry sand will work till you do

You need a grate for coal though as you need to get air under them to burn
  • I have been holding off lighting my fire,as it isn't horrendously cold, just getting a bit chilly.so I plumped for the ' smothering the hearth in candles' option. It was quite amazing how much heat they put out,and the cozy look made me feel warm too.

I always buy candles at bootsales,it's amazing how many peeps but good candles,Yankee, party lite etc iggy them once, then sell them for pennies!

Still their loss is definitely my gain!
  • Oh dear god! My iPad has been correcting my typing again, blooming thing!

Iggy was meant to be light.........how it got iggy,I will never know

Morning, its so chilly this morning. Temperature is apparently 11 degrees but I think its lower.

Popped to the park this morning with the LO. He's hit the terrible 2's so I'm trying to knacker him out as much as possible :rotfl:It was actually quite nice to be able to run around like a nutter and say it was all in the interest of keeping warm :j.

My parents are on holiday this week and next (in Alcudia where its 24 degrees!!) so I'm looking after there dogs. They just live along the road so im popping in throughout the day and then walking them at night. However i'm timing my visits when the heating clicks on :rotfl:. Keeping cosy, afterall it would just be keeping the dogs warm otherwise.

Noticed last night how draughty our front door is. It's timber and most probably original, so getting on for 18 years now. Can anyone recommend any cheap but thick curtains? I really only need one, but imagine I would have to buy a pair.

    Thanks!

    Morning preppers

Chilly but lovely morning compared to yesterday which was flipping cold. I decided at bedtime I needed a hot water bottle but couldn't find it-I know, I'm not that well prepped  Have now turned out the cupboards and discovered it in amongst the silicon baking things!

Daughter called round yesterday and she was freezing cold. Felt really mean not switching on the heating but gave her a snuggly fleece to wrap up in. She was talking about wind-up torches and I realised we could do with one in the car. I remember someone saying they got theirs at Mr T, is that right and if so, where are they in the shop-sorry but I find it hard to walk round supermarkets :o TIA

I got mine in Mr T - they were in the camping goods section. I paid around £4.
