I remember my mum stuffing a pillow up the chimney to stop the draft back in t' olden days, by my local council dished out 'greener energy saving' items recently and I got a chimney ballon FOC. I have inserted it into my old redundant oil burner chimney (we are now on gas) and its working a treat...:oSPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)

We were at Costco at the weekend and I noticed that they had Snow Trax in - 2 pairs to a pack for £11.38 (incl vat) Ladies size 4 - 9 and mens size 7 - 11 We didn't buy any as I have some already (variation of) bought from the kleenezi book last year! Also thermals (in black only) but very reasonable in price.
I did buy some thermal lined trousers for dog walking, very cosy!
Today I got out and started to put the garden "to bed" hopefully got most of it done in time. Weather is still ok here but noticably cooler.
Just need to find that pack of safety pins so that I can attach the Asda fleeces to our bedroom curtains. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I have kept 20 15kgs of dried dog food in the garage since last November! not in a bin (and dog food loose in a heavy black plastic bin) and although we live next to fields, haven't had any problem with mice. Just have to be careful about keeping the garage doors closed. We're now down to 7 bags and a plastic bin full! Touch wood we don't get mice this winter!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Frugal - glad the 1st fire was a success!
Bedroom was decidely chilly last night - I usually go up and shut the window a couple of hours before bedtime but forgot yesterday:o.
Had to dig out my big blanket which was lovely and cosy ..... but I did wake up in the middle of the night with most of the covers on the floor so obviously got too hot!:D
I really struggle with changing duvets over to thicker ones (only put the 4.5 summer tog one on last month;)). I'm often cold when I go to bed but seem to turn into a furnace during the night so need layers to chuck off. I might stick with the blanket for a couple of weeks and then try moving up to the 7 tog one.
Thought of another couple of things I still need to do ....- Order a new bottle of dogs meds - I do have one put away but I want to try to keep it as a spare over the winter
- Start putting money away for the bus in case I have to get it to work - it costs up to £40/week:eek: and unfortunately not feasible to get a weekly ticket. There are 2 bus companies (one is a lot cheaper - £1.80 compared to £3.70:eek: but it only runs a couple of times a day and usually stops in bad weather) - the last thing you want is to be standing at a bus stop for an hour with your weekly pass, only for the other bus to turn up!
- Give bird feeders a clean / wash ready for use
