Yesterday morning was scary. conservatory panels were almost bending and loads of areas had no power so to the lady in fife who thought she was overreacting - no way :)

If you've got a warning in WL then I might get it too. Main prob here is that we're nearly at 300m, on the side of a hill. A lot depends on which way its blowing. But its very gusty now and I hope to god the power doesnt go off again. I couldnt stand another day of the husband moaning about his telly!!
They were saying in another forum that the cooncil in Edinburgh are taking down the fallen trees and then chain sawing them into manageable sized chunks, then leaving them at side of road. Within hours people appeared and took the free logs all away :)

I'm WL as well and the drive home was scary. The building next to where I work lost their roof.

  • Just put the bins out and put them behind my car on the road, hoping they get some protection from the wind and not go running off up the road again! The neighbours just put theirs out and they just went right over and spilled all over the road.Getting fed up with the wind.Nobody came about my chimney pot but when I was ringing them they said there were 72 people in front of me so I was cheeky and bypassed repairs and got someone else to report it for me,I don't know if the rain is getting into the loft, hope not.Let's hope the bins don't damage my car now

Just found out the wind speed on Great Dun Fell which we can see from our house had wind speeds of 106mph yesterday. No wonder it felt so strong.

shirleymarye. I hope the roof is sorted for you soon. Regarding bins DH has been out every day and put the neighbours rubbish back in their bin and tucked it behind the wall but when they come home they take it out again. I wish I had their phone number so I could let them know what is happening without going outside.

shirleymarye, I hope that things get sorted out soon.

I got out this afternoon and got back before the wind started to pick up a bit. There was still an area cordoned off on quite a major road I was passing today and there looked to be quite a lot of damage to buildings, gardens and outbuildings I passed while on the train.

Thanks for the tip, kittie. I got some washing soda while out today :)
  • Looks like somebody nicked my chimney pot! It's gone anyway:exclamati

shirleymarye - scary stuff - hope you get it sorted
mardatha - saw the forth bridge on our news - again - scary!!!!
wind and rain to-night is very very scary here - I dont' think I'll sleep at all. A huge piece of plastic stuff is caught on the overhead wires outside my house - reaches down to ground level and i'm wondering if someone were to touch it would it be dangerous - does plastic conduct electricity???
