Must remember to drain my water butt before the ice hits, it was frozen solid right to the core last year, the biggest ice cube in the world!, also sprung leaks in all the feeding drainpipe joints in the thaw. It's not likely I'm going to need to water my petunias in -12 weather is it?0

My DD's have them, they call them 'one in all's' Well I think they meant all in ones before several glasses of vino.
They wanted to buy one for my DH, but I totally collapsed hysterically laughing on the floor in primark at just the very thought of that, so they didn't bother.0 -
Squash concentrate is a bit like cool aid, I've never been able to find any squash in the states. It's concentrated fruit flavoured water that you dilute to make a fruit flavoured drink.
Is this like Just a Dash from Asda? I buy a few bottles now and again, fruit flavoured that looks like water, you mix it with water and it's lovely!0 -
Hi Blue:wave:
Well, didn't put the heating on last night ..... went to bed instead:o
However, I think it may well have to go on tonight as it really is getting chilly now (only 3 deg overnight and still blooming cold now!)
The bedroom was down to 15 deg so a bit on the cool side even for me & my bed was decidedly chilly when I got in - so task for the day is to make the 2 other HW bottle covers so I can stick these in tonight.
I'm reluctant to put the flannelette sheets on yet or I'll really struggle when it gets "proper cold".
Also going to have a trawl around for a sunrise clock as hoping this will help. I do put a light on a timer downstairs to come on around 1/2 hour before I get up which helps a bit as it's not pitch black when I wake but think it'd be even better in the bedroom!:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

An American member asked further up in the thread what squash is, and a few of the ladies were kindly explaining as it seems that squash is not a term used in the US.
Also known as cordial or juice concentrate.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Here is a link to the SAD website - I have skim read it and anything less than 10000 lux is not effective enough to treat SAD. Having said that, the first link you have given is to one that is 6000 which isn't far off and is good value for money, IMHO. I guess if you used it for longer it would have the same effect. You need to use these SAD lights for around an hour a day to be effective but you can do other things whilst in front of it... ie MSE website
Also, a dawn simulator light will not treat SAD at all... What it will do is make waking up easier on those dark mornings.
