  • Avoid Fischer at all cost. they write their own reviews on Trustpilot. If you mention how expensive they are to run, your review will be taken down.
  • Fake online reviews under investigation by competition authority. Trustpilot is one such site that harbours such reviews for scam companies. Beware don't be out foxed. If i get the time I will be contacting CMA competition and markets authority to investigate such companies who have swindled Great Britiish public. I am a lot busy dealing with people involved in organisin sham marriage in the Uk. Waiting for Brexit to alert home sec. So in the mean time if anyone out there who got time please report german heating sellers to CMA. Stay safe and don't let these heating sellers in your home. BIG SCAM
  • They've been reported to the ASA many times - see their outcome findings. They sell as replacements for night store heaters replacement products but they 'store' zero heat but are allowed to continue by UK ASA and others.

  • What to expect from these charlatans
    1. You will not be given prices of heaters over the phone.
    2. On day of appointment you will be sweet talked for 2 to 3 hrs or more before are are given a price. This depends on your circumstances. Price drops if you show no interest .
    3. These SO CALLED GERMAN HEATERS ,will never reduce your electric bills. In fact your bills will double or even triple.
    4. They will show you all those FAKE reviews on Trustpilot
If you have been scammed on pretext of receiving good that will cut your bills, take them to court if they will not refund. Contact trading standards and inform the police you were scammed.

Just had their "engineer" round.  Even though I had explained to their office, and to him, that under the present restrictions that it was illegal to enter our house they claimed, disingenuosly, that they had Government permission to do so as "Essential Workers". This is completely contrary to all the information on Governmemnt websites.
He would not under any circumstances give me any indication of prices without gaining admission to the house and stormed off in the huff when I told him that I had prices from one of their competitors. These heaters can be bought for a fraction of the price on the usual second hand outlets. Some sellers even publish their original invoice so you can what a rip off they are.

I guess you must have invited him in the first place, so why are you complaining. If you did invite him or any other competitor with a similar product then why would you do that when you've seen the previous 71 pages of this thread (unless of course you are some sort of masochist)
They aren't engineers they are salesmen trying to sell snake oil (or in the case of Fischer - magic fairy dust)

  • Evening all,

After reading this thread and numerous others on the same subject.
I realise what a mistake I have made in replacing our dated storage to electric radiators (Technotherm).

Not only did I replace them, but I also misjudged the wattage I needed for each room. I forgot to accommodate the ceiling height. Typically our ceilings are just shy of 4m in height. Maybe the selling perk "perfect with rooms with high ceilings' caught me out.

All in all my hastiness and eagerness for modernisation has made me squirm in frustration and embarrassment.

The question I have for you all which I believe has been answered is:
Does operating power remain the same throughout operation? Whether that's 18c or 23c?

Please excuse my ignorance, but until I can 'upgrade' again (sensibly) it would be nice to know if money could be saved at a lower temperature?

As stated above each room is missing 500-900w extra umph to accommodate room size/s, so I would imagine the radiators are gunning on usage although inbuilt temp gauge gets to desired temp 21c within an hour and remains at that temp stably.

    Many thanks.

They will have a thermostat to control the temperature, so once the room has achieved the desired temperature they will switch on an off to maintain that temperature thus regulating their power consumption. However if they have insufficient output to reach the set temperature then they'll just run continuously.

If the heaters were over spec'd then they's still only use as much energy as required because the thermostat would control them, they'd just heat the room a bit quicker so it's actually better to over size than undersize.

TBH the way to determine what size of heater you need is to to a proper heat loss calculation, taking into account the size and insulation value of the walls, floor, ceiling and windows as well as the internal temperature that you desire compared with the outside temperature. There are plenty of calculators on line to help you. A simple length x breadth x height will give you a rough idea but is no where near as accurate as doing it properly

The power they run at will remain the same. But the lower you set the thermostat, the less time they will be on for.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

    Yes. Lower temperature, less consumption.
Improving the insulation would help keep the room comfortable with the heater set lower.
