Nice one! Get the mileage from the dress and do lots of free evenings out like this and it won't feel so much like you are living on such a tight budget!
I've got another one of those market research interviews tomorrow night, nice little £45 towards the ISA!
Haha yep that sounds about right, will try and avoid the club for money and hangover reasons but knowing my friend he'll want to party on especially if his horse wins the award it's up forSO EXCITED!

It sounds to me like army boy is a little insecure and asks that question of "what am I to you" for the reassurance of it. The fact that he backtracks before getting on board again says to me there are things he needs to hear from you so he pulls away so you can tell him he's great and you really like him and then he's reassured and comfortable. Also, it sounds like he really likes you and values your friendship so that may be a small worry for him that he risks losing that. The best thing you can do is just be consistent (which soundsl like you always are based on how your diary reads). I find that works every time.
But I'm a Committed Singleton so what do I know?
hehe thanks, you sound pretty much spot on i reckon. I'll just see what he's like when hes back over here. I might be over it by then! LOLSantander 0% £1,529.94

Hi all,
So still havent found the fiver from yesterday which is really annoying so i have written that off.
I had to buy some new flesh coloured tights this am for tonight which were £6 and got my friends birthday card as well in advance so that saves me a spendy day next week.
Tonight - Everything is paid for which is really sweet of him, the drinks will be expensive after if they aren't included as its being held in a well known hotel on Park Lane... so after dinner i will switch to water or soft drinks if thats the case. Im staying at friends house so we will head home together saving me cab fare. Will play by ear as to whether we go out after. If they suggest it, i'll just have to say im skint! Im taking £30 with me from the NSD saves so that has to last. Will report back tomorrow!
Saturday Im going to Twickenham with my flatmate, I've briefed her ahead of schedule how skint I am so she has arranged to see her fella after, so Im hoping to just take a tenner and that'll do for a few drinks in the match then head home.
Tonight has messed up the social budget if I do spend that £30 though. However, it will be worth it and I'll just shave a tenner off 3 nights I had budgeted more for by pulling out the not drinking due to x, y or z reason!! You guys can help with that! haha
I'm already feeling really anxious about this month as it will be sooo tight. It's the socials that'll kill me. Here's the current plan:
ROA Dinner - UNBUDGETED £30
Twickers - Budgeted £20 will try to shave to £10
Leaving lunch - Budgeted £20 as she booked a non-cheap, non-voucher taking restaurant!
Team Xmas Dinner - Budgeted £40 need to pay £25 up front for the meal so that leaves £15 for drinks
Leaving party (different person) - budgeted £20 will try to shave to £10
Rugby Club xmas party - Budgeted £20 as this is entrance fee and includes drinks the whole night but they have asked me to waitress during the dinner so im trying to get them to let me in for free in return. In which case Id save this £20
Olympia horse show- budgeted £30 as there all day and as my friend paid for my ticket i should at least buy her a drink or two!
Company xmas party - budgeted £10 as drink is free during dinner so ill just stop drinking after
Department xmas party budgeted £40 have to pay £15 upfront for meal
Goodness!!! This is NOT going to be easy! I have worked out these budgeted amounts from the amount of NSD's its possible to have this month. But each time i have a spendy day I lose a tenner from the budget then all the numbers in my spreadsheet turn red!!
Head.desk.
I need to up my income this month big time. If that blooming quidco post office money cleared it'd be a lot easier!!! The problem is I'd normally cancel one or two of these but all the work ones are mandatory. If anything goes it needs to be that leaving lunch but she's been a really good colleague and has helped me loads so I would feel awful bailing out.

Oh that is quite a list to handle!
I think its very unfair you are expected to attend a 3 separate xmas dos for work, especially at your own expense!
Plus 2 leaving dos - do you really have to both? Perhaps you might notice a 'double booking' in your diary and not be able to go
ETA - for extra income in such a short space of time, i would go for ebay!0 -
Quidco hasn't paid me anything yet either, very surprised at how long that's all taking. I think we started at the same time.
Have you paid your Mazuma money onto your credit card yet? If not, maybe you could keep back £30 of it? That way, you can cover your budget this month and still overpay your CC with what's left.
If the mazuma money is already gone, then get eBaying!
I have been toying with the idea of doing a car boot sale. I've done one before and was amazed at what people buy. The first thing I sold was a very tatty old pair of trainers that were going in the bin but had accidentally ended up in the boot of the car. We walked away with £150 that day, after we paid the money for our spot in the market and table hire.
Anyone doing a car boot, here's my advice -
- Take a thermos of tea/coffee and some sandwiches - its a long day
- If in doubt about whether anyone will buy it, take it with you. See above re: old trainers, one man's trash truly is another man's treasure. If you don't sell it you can bin it when you get home
- Wear VERY comfortable shoes, you are on your feet all day
- Take lots of carrier bags but hide them in your car
- Think about how you will display things. Ie, if you have lots of shirts, take coat hangers and a hanging rail.
Thats about all I can think of for now. I'll try to think of some other ways for you to up your income nowDecember 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

Gosh your social life sounds rather fab to a boring, stay at home old fart like me!
There are quite a few lunches/dinners in there. Remember that should reduce your usual food spending, so you may be able to recoup some of the £30 there. If your budgets are realistic then this will be a test of your willpower!
As for not drinking, I daresay noone will even notice what you are having. It's really nobodies business but I would be tempted to say that you are pacing yourself and will have a 'drink' next round. Hopefully it will be someone else buying and you can just use the same excuse over and over!
As for the rugby club, I should think they should let in for free or pay you the going rate. Where else are they going to get a waitress for £20? I'd definately waitress though - you might come away with tips!0 -
Morning Londongirl
I'm being bad a freecycling junk. Just can't be bothered to hunt for the boxes and packing for ebay
never mind weighing the stupid stuff.
Finally I got 2 nights in my own bed...Bed is rather nice right now with clean sheets on and the duvet cover on
Still freezing up here in the wild north....But PG (praise God)...my eleccy bill is only about £150 for the quarter (am all electric due to being in the high rise) and so I'm getting £10 knocked off my monthly payments :j. Plus I've applied for the warm home discount..
Also I figure that if I was on JSA I'd need a food budget of £25 a week so am trying to get down to that. Currently on £30 a week for everything bar bills and 'necessary whoopsies'

Hi all,
Whispering only allowed on this thread today please, Im VERY delicate!!!
WHAT a night! Absolutley fantastic, 600 people, tonnes of well known racing faces and my favourite author Jilly Cooper was there so I was a bit star stuck!! My friend was so generous that he'd filled our table with enough wine to sink a ship so no worries there! Food was delish, the gang on the table were all fun and danced the night away! His horse didn't win the award it was up for but is racing today so hopefully it will win there instead!!
It was almost a non spender!!! Until the girl who I was supposed to be staying with left without me! So I stayed and danced with the boys and stumbled out at around 2:15 ... oops! The boys were kicking on to an exclusive club and almost took me with them but they took so long to work out where to go that I managed to be sensible and get home. However having been left behind I did have to get a cab. It was £23 so i didnt spend over the £30 I had budgeted for the night which is OK but an annoying spend. Well worth it though!
There was a silent auction during the night on handheld tablets, there were 60 fantastic prizes and I think they all went for between £1k and £5k then there was two auctioners auctioning the biggest 6 prizes after dinner, a signed golf bag went for £35k!!!!!!!! My jaw was literally on the table those six items raised well over £100k alone. Needless to say I sat as still as a sculpture so they couldnt mistake any movement for a bid!!!
Today has been difficult so far to say the least!
so tomorrow I will cut my budget for twickers to a tenner and then I'll knock a tenner off another night then my social budget is back on track until the next spend day - URGH
Thanks for all the ideas. I'll be ebaying tomorrow I think. I'm having a bit of an emotional dilemma over a signed rugby shirt I have its probably worth a few hundred quid but was signed in quite special circumstances to me so Im reluctant to let it go just to fund a few nights out.
My Mazuma money went straight on the card TJ which is annoying as I wish Id held some back.
finding... I know its really annoying, on two the meals are paid for but then you have to pay upfront for meal on the other. There is a really sociable culture here which is awesome but its also expensive and they don’t take no for an answer!!

PS the charity last night was one which makes terminally ill childrens wishes come true, they showed some video from a father of a little girl who died and I was filling up. It looks like an amazing charity, I wish I could have afforded to donate but everything was over a grand and there was no change bucket or anything, so I'll bear then in mind when I do have a spare tenner or so that I can donateSantander 0% £1,529.94

That's OK... Was just a thought. You'll get through the next month within your budget and then will be glad you sent it all to your credit card.
