Hi all,
So yesterday wasn’t a NSD as I sorted out my phone situation, got a less jazzy blackberry to keep me going for now.
Today, however has been good. Haven’t spent anything and don’t think I will so today will finally be my second NSD for November. No way I’ll be hitting that target this month!! The phone purchase has left me £30 short for the month. So I need 3 NSD’s and the tenners from those can be saved for the rest of the month rather than going into my social pot.
I checked my Halifax credit card bank statement again and despite me cancelling that payment cover they took another £30! So rang them up and she is going to refund it back to my account. She also gave me the number to talk to, to get the previous ones sorted too.
I’m looking forward to xmas but also looking forward to it being over so I can get the finances back on the straight and narrow. Still doing OK and not going over budget (bar phone) but xmas is going to be expensive so nothing miraculous is going to happen to the finances this side of xmas which is annoying. Still, on the bright side, this WILL be the first xmas that hasn’t gone on a credit card so that will be a huge achievement.Santander 0% £1,529.94

Sounds like you are a good candidate for phone insurance! I was reading one of Martin Lewis' books the other day where he talked about phone insurance and he recommends it for people who go through phones quite often. Sounds like you might be one of these? Hehe.
Is your 'new' phone brand new? I know a lot of insurers will only insure a device that's less than 6 months old. I use protectyourbubble.com. They have always come in the cheapest.
I'm looking forward to Christmas purely for the family time, but totally agree, will be glad when the spend-fest is over. I am managing to keep the reins on it though, I'll write more about it on my own diary though, don't want to talk about myself too much on your thread!December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

I think phone insurance was made for me! I'll be looking on that site tomorrow another friend recommended that too, cheers dude! It's new (Mum and Dad helped me out) so I'll get it insured in the morning with my new camera (early xmas present)
So today finally brought my 2nd NSD for November! Don't see why tomorrow shouldn't be as well. Then after tomorrow I'm off on study leave. That will be the biggest challenge so far I think as 7 days at home stressed, studying my worst subject and craving comfort food will be very difficult not to give in. If I get one NSD out of the week it will be a miracle!Santander 0% £1,529.94

Get a popcorn machine (about £10 or less off ebay) and some popcorn and stock up on sweeties (any) and you'll be fine :j...
Quite tired and it's another damp lousy day in Erme land...
and just done some clicks on speedcashback :money: - need to get back into those
So yeah the caffeine reduction caused me not to sleep last nightand Ma is not her best. She was moaning about how terrible her life was without the TV last night (yet hadn't tried turning the dial on the digital radio for different channels) and she knows I can't cope with folk moaning for ages...she knows it just stresses me out (as proved by the last time I was there in the winter where I came home and lost half a stone cos Ma just moaned for the week )...
I told her to phone CS which I trust. She said she had a bad 'un on there a few weeks ago and won't phone them again. Like first bad one in I don't know how long? And you won't phone. So yet again I'm caring for you from 300 miles away when I have my own probs...
I even offered to pay for the tv (digibox) to get fixed and she refused. Now technically my DBS should be getting her wee finger out and paying for it if she truly is a christian (honour thy father and mother and the rest of your family...alas with DBS this doesn't go very far. Often I find I do more for the family than she does with my limited income yet she's a senior staff nurse. Foreign far flung holidays that only worry Ma to death get the priority or visiting friends or going to weddings ) But still....
I know I'm going to get sick....basic reality..Ma stress....

Hey R I've just had a thought... even if you can't get your old phone working you can still get quite a bit for it on https://www.mazumamobile.com.
I've done a quick search on Blackberry Torch but there are 3 different models. The 9810 gets £60 for a non-working model. Twice that if it comes back to life after drying it out.
You might not end up out of pocket for buying your new phone after all!December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

hey LG I have now finished reading ur diary & wanted to say how readable it is & that I've really been inspired by ur £10per day approach. I get paid on Friday so I'm going to try this approach & see how it works for me. Re the phone I second what everyone has said. As long as you didn't try to turn it on while it was full of water it should be alright as long as you leave it long enough. I once had a phone where I dropped it in liquid of some description 7 times!!!! (I kid you not!) my ds used to take it to school & get the techies to dry it out! Good luck sounds like you are storming this debt busting malarky!DF as at 30/12/16

Hi!
Thanks for reading and posting your support
Give it a go, might not work for everyone but it really has for me as I think about the cash value of everything so much more and I'm always really reluctant to part with my tenner unless I really have to!!
Haha 7??? I feel much better now!thanks for that, will give it a go in a couple of days as it will then have had a week almost!
Thanks againSantander 0% £1,529.94

Hi all,
Thanks for all the comments and support for me and phone. It really does keep me on track!
Day 1 of study leave today and so far so good! I made a revision timetable last night and have stuck to it this am, 2 chapters done and dusted. Another 4 to go today and some practice questions after. Currently on an allotted 15min break!
Yesterday was so horrible at work. Four colleagues were made redundant out of the blue. They had all been in the company for year. Two of them over 25 years, they had a wealth of experience and knowledge. They came in yesterday like a normal Tuesday and by 11am they were gone. Can't imagine how they must be feeling.
In the afternoon management announcement it was put down to the current climate in our industry, cost cutting and a re-organisation of the department due which identified their jobs were no longer required.
Massive shocker. Bit upset and lost 4 friends and really helpful colleagues who were always kind whereas my team back then weren't.
He did say there were no more planned redundancies but obviously no guarantees. So hopefully that is it. But it did make me realise even more how much I need to sort out this debt. I'd be in a horrible pickle if I was out of work.
Right, break over.
Will report later...Santander 0% £1,529.94
