How often do you wash your hair?

I am astonished at the number of people who don't wash their hair every day.
We all wash our hair every day. Three of us have very short hair (me, mrsLA and DS1) and DS2 has very long hair.0

Every day/every other day, if I have plans all week then I'd wash it every day, but if I'm pottering about the house I wouldn't wash it.
I have quite greasy hair, and find it feels grubby and dirty after one day. I don't like wearing my hair tied back either and you can't beat the freshly washed feeling.
R.e Dry Shampoo, if you have properly greasy hair, it only works for a few hours, so if you have work all day and spray your hair in the morning, I think you'd find you'd need to take the can with you and do it half way through the day, it just doesn't last for me.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I have very thin, fine and dead straight greasy hair and I wash it every other day now. Many years ago I try washing it only once a week. I did it for 6 months but it never made any difference. I just spent 6 days a week with a scarf round my head and I got sick of it because I felt people were looking at me as if I was DIRTY!! I wouldn't do it again. The best 'gentle' shampoo i've found was one I bought from Aldi but they only stock it occasionally.0

Every other day for me. I have long thick curly hair so it needs some kind of wetting every morning to stop me looking like Hagrid. The only time i comb it is when there's conditioner on it so i never go more than 2 days without washing or it would be all matted. On the odd occassion i straighten it i'd go 3 days without washing and i'd wear it up on the 3rd day.0

I have very thick hair and have always needed to wash it everyday. But at Easter my friend persuaded me to use dry shampoo and I haven't looked back since!
I was my hair Day 1 and straighten/curl/style it, then day 2 I use dry shampoo and tie it half up/all up. Then wash Day 3 normally. But today is actually Day 3 and I've not washed it! It looks fine, It's all tied back cos I don't like the feel of it on my face if it's not washed, but perfectly acceptable condition.
I'm amazed that in just 5 months my hair has got to this stage! . Saved me time in mornings, and my shampoo etc last ages now! . Saved me time in mornings, and my shampoo etc last ages now!
Home Bargains does their own dry shampoo which is 79p, as good as Batiste but not a coloured version sadly.

I wash mine once or twice a week.
I'm surprised at the people who wash their hair every single day! My hair is not that long (shoulder length) and takes a while to get greasy (on the 4th day I can start to feel it turning) but if I were to wash it everyday, after washing, drying, straightening it would take an hour if not more!
In between washes I tend to use Batiste, the best thing ever made
I always thought washing your hair everyday was actually bad for your hair.0

I have long fine hair, and if I wash it in the morning I can get away with washing it every other day. If I do it at night, then after sleeping for two nights it's pretty disgusting by the morning of the second day, so to the OP you may find it helps to wash it in the morning instead.
I've also just realised that the formula of my shampoo has changed which has made it worse, so I think I need to try a different shampoo. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0

Ok, this is probably going to be a disgusting explanation but, it's worth thinking about.
OP - Have you ever thought about how much you sweat in the night? Also, although we change bed linen regularly, we don't change pillows once a week or wash them once a week so that the grease and sweat and all sorts soaks through to them while we are asleep and can quite easily go back the other way onto our hair and skin.
My best friend in all the world, when we were at school, was contantly teased as she had greasy hair. As she's got older (we are now both 32) and started having company at night, she realised how much she sweat while she was asleep and put two and two together. She now only washes her hair during her morning shower and has three sets of pillows that she rotates while the others are washed and dried (not necessary for everyone but, it works to keep her happy)
My best suggestion to you would be to stop washing your hair at night and give it a quick "lean over the bath" job in the morning :-)0

i used to feel exactly like this, and get knotty hair. Reducing the frequency of shampooing has vastly, vastly improved the condition of my hair, and very occasionally I get five days in a row where the curl holds, no frizz, no tangles and no rewetting. Nowadays (when not lured by the shiny new shampoo bottle) when I re condition but not shampoo I find my hair to be generally less dry, less prone to frizz, and needs rewetting less often with out the ''Hagrid'' look. Usually after three days of wearing curls down I need either to rewet or consider an updo...but if I rewet it would be with conditioner only. Personally I couldn't use no shampoo I don't think. I think my scalp would stink, and it does get itchy (If I feel an itch I shampoo that day). That said, the best stuff for my hair that I have used was the no-poo WEN system stuff. When I eventually run out of my large TIGI conditioner bottles I will try wen again.0

I'm very similar to Gilly. I have just-longer-than-shoulder-length fine hair, but not particularly greasy and I generally wash it every day. I don't really like wearing my hair up as I don't think it suits me, but if I don't have any plans to leave the house for the day, like on a weekend, I won't wash it.
I've tried dry shampoo so many times but it just doesn't seem to work for me.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0
