  • he's not started yet and has been unemployed for 7 months so he might find it hard to get credit.

Although, lets be honest. In six weeks time we'll be on page 32 and he'll come back to reply; he'd have turned the job down but got offered one at the end of his street so it doesn't matter any more...... it's always the case ;)

are you suggesting he does 26 miles with no helmet in the dark

besides: no point in having the lights with no bike..

Hes better to get on liftshare type websites...

you dont want to get into the argument as to whether with or without a helmet is safer
    thats a whole new thread

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:well if the op is genuine I hope he does find a way to take the job. Nissan are are great co to work for, they expect you to work hard and be loyal to them but treat their workers with respect and reward that hard work.

Everyone round here who works for them have nothing but praise for them and all enjoy their jobs. It's only the slackers who weren't prepared to put the effort in that have a bad word to say.

so if the OP was already working there and their car was broken beyond repair.
would your advice be to pack in the job?

No, my advice would be to weigh up all the elements of all the options available and make an informed decision as to which is the most effective - practically and financially.

I'm really not understanding why you seem to find this idea so offensive.

1/ And where on earth, pray tell, did I suggest that?

2/ You may deem it a minor obstacle, but others may not... for all we know the OP may have two false legs or any other disability that makes a daily marathon cycle unrealistic.

All that has been suggested here is that they look at all the various possibilities before making a decision.

may have, whereas folks here seem to think we would need Chris Boardman working at Nissan for it to be possible
    again with the exageration
13 miles isnt a marathon cycle

No, but there and back would be 26 miles, which would, quite literally, be a daily marathon.

No wonder the OP hasnt come back to the thread with all this b*tching! To get back on track OP you will be entitled to get a payoff due to being on the dole for 6mths - if you are single you get £100 that might help with the initial outlay of either getting a bike or the first couple of days of transport!

As I see it there a variety of choices that people have suggested:
*contact Nissan for info on any busses/support/ carshare schemes
*beg /borrow a bike and cycle
*persuade a friend to give you a lift (they will be if they do this one for you)
    *relocate (seems a tad extreme!)
*approach the Jobcentre for help with a bike to work etc
*local radio appeal - some stations do a help your neighbour kinda thing!
*dont take the job and appeal any sanction (another extreme soloution)

Good Luck and Congratulations for getting the job now the trick is to keep it! Must say 3am is a lousy time for an end of shift!
