Anywhere other than cities, shift work is nigh on impossible if you need to travel any distance. Even as a fit young thing, I'd consider a 26 mile round trip excessive.
As for relocating, there is the issue of raising a deposit, at least one month in advance even for a room.
The fact is, there is no assistance for job seekers willing to work anywhere with the right support to enable them to do so.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
You are really not a very nice person are you.
the reason that bogof babe thinks its so easy to move house is because she is probably cossetted by a husband in a well paid proffessional job. And i am also willing to bet that shes got kids which was her choice yet she is being nasty about a 24 year old single man who has been sensible not having kids he cant afford yet he gets penalized for it.
see what its like when someone makes assumptions about you bogof. Not nice is it?
Oh and i made these assumptions by reading your posts in EXACTLY the same way you did about the OP!0 -
This thread really has become thoroughly unpleasant. And quite needlessly so as far as I can see.0

I don't get many complaints. In fact I am considered a VERY nice person in real life.the reason that bogof babe thinks its so easy to move house is because she is probably cossetted by a husband in a well paid proffessional job. And i am also willing to bet that shes got kids which was her choice yet she is being nasty about a 24 year old single man who has been sensible not having kids he cant afford yet he gets penalized for it.

Can someone please enlighten me as to what I've said that is so objectionable? I simply made a suggestion (that didn't involve cycling down motorways, unlike some others), and latterly pointed out that anyone who feels they are being "done over" by the Job Centre because they have been found a job, even if it does involve travel complications, must have a rather unpromising attitude as regards the whole point of Job Seeking.
I gather everyone else on this thread thinks the guy should be allowed to remain on benefits for as long as it takes him to find a job in his home town/village. Life ain't always like that.
Oh and btw, never earned more than £15K in an admin job that I walked to (mile and a half each way - granted not a marathon but still took some self-discipline on cold winter mornings and dark evenings). Now retired, as is husband (who never earned more than £18K in a similar role to me), no kids because we couldn't have them. Any other misconceptions need correcting?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Anyway, what the heck does whether he's got kids or not have to do with anything?
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
And what heavy industry might that be then?
Shipyards............Gone
Coal Mines..........Gone
Steelworks..........Mostly Gone
Factories...........Disappearing fast.
