How much do you spend on the lottery/scratchards

That's not really optimism, that's blindness.£28 week on lotto, £8 week Euromillions, £4 week syndicate, & probably about a tenner a week on scratch cards. biggest win £200 on a "Monopoly" scratchcard. But I'm an optimistic sort & I can dream of buying my £10m yacht!
I think. £2500 a year, you could pay that off your mortgage and be countless thousands better off in reality, not dreamland.
I have been accused of being too realistic before

We spend £6 per week - we have one line we play all the time and always get a lucky dip. We play the Weds and Sat draws and also plus 5 each line.0

Why is it blindness? We have over £500 a week disposable income after all bills & food, no debts at all. I would rather have a dream of being an instant millionaire than save up to have a few grand in the bank when I may well die before I enjoy it.
And, yes, I do also bet on the horses and the dogs, but never a lot only what I'm comfortable in losing.0 -
There was a story in our local rag earlier this year about a cleaner at Sainsburys who had stolen tens of thousands of pounds worth of scratch cards and part of his Defence when he was caught and prosecuted was that he had debts to pay. The amount he had actually won from the numerous cards he had stolen was about £500. That says it all really.
On the other hand, if you are a gambler, have the money spare and enjoy the thrill, who am I to say you are wrong to buy them?0 -
Because you think you're going to win and instead of enjoying this life you have, with the large amount you have at your disposal, you have to dream about being a millionaire. That's rather sad actually. Why is it blindness?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Lotus eater (again)
Where do I state that I think I'm going to win? I know it's very unlikely.
Where do I state that I "have" to dream about becoming a millionaire?
How is it sad? I enjoy playing.
IMO you're the sad one.0 -

Why would you pity me? I earn plenty enough to do what I like with my money, I enjoy life and I'm happy. You're an idiot.0
