Nationwide Soft-Search

Ahhh I see what's happened. This morning there was a post before mine that was asking us to compare car models against each other. Now that's been deleted I look like a right muppet! Lol!
SorryI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
I applied just now. I got quoted a limit of £4500 at 15.9% - but said further checks were necessary possibly due to voters roll..- but do you think that looks promising? Last time the system declined me straight off..Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0

well i've done afew soft searches via nationwide over the past few months yes i do get that bored sometimes lol all have been different. one quoted me as 900 at 19.9 a decline i'd imagine. another at 1500 at 19.9 another decline i'd say. the last one this evening at 700 at 15.9 which did make me think. The same information was entered on each application. The only difference this time is that i applied for a credit card at my own bank last saturday which should in theory lower my soft search results shouldn't it ? I still don't know if i've got the natwest card will wait untill i get a letter.0

Hmm, that's strange I agree- you'd expect it lower your score - something has obviously changed...I'm sure some genius will drop by soon with a logical reason! Wouldn't Nationwide accept your application - is that why you went to NatWest?Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0 -
Natwest is my own bank and although i have little credit history i do have a good income i'm trying to be more proactive i haven't actually applied for the nationwide credit card nor any other just the natwest one last saturday. i've just done the odd soft search over the past few months. It does suprise me how different each quote is though.0

Yea, I'm the same in the sense of limited history and decent salary - I went through an IVA because of stupidity just over six years ago - all that bad stuff is now gone and if I could have my time over again..you really don't appreciate how useful having a credit card is until nobody will give you one!
"You want a hire car without a credit card - move on sir, move on.."Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0 -
I wouldn't be too concerned about the 19.9% APR. If you have a lot of banking history with them you have a pretty good chance I reckon. I got a quote for the select card of £3500 limit and 19.9%, went ahead with the application and got acceptance in principle. Just waiting for my card now.
It's ironic, I use my FlexAccount with my wife just for bills, yet have no issues getting a credit card. Yet even though I opened my Natwest current account nearly 12 months ago, they won't even offer me an overdraft. I only want a £250 buffer. Strange.0 -

Jon,
When you went through the online application what did the last screen say? Did it confirm your application, subject to signing a form etc - mine was very iffy...
