I wish I had known sooner. My fault though, I will just pay my debts off and manage my credit card for about a year and see how it looks then.Littlewoods £0/£750
Barclaycard £0/£1,000 @ 0% Nov '18
Goal: To be debt free by Oct' 31st 2016.
Now debt free!!!0 -
I applied for a credit card with Nationwide in April and got declined. I applied for a loan in May and got accepted.. at 12.7% rate though.
God knows how they calculate it.. the same person gets declined then accepted. I've never been bankrupt, never missed any payments, stable job, current account and mortgage with Nationwide for many years.0 -

They're two different products. With a loan they know when they're going to (or should) get their money back.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Just applied for a Nationwide Card and got quoted 19.9% with limit of £3,200 and got DECLINED when I clicked through.
Really hacked off with this because i've been cleaning up my credit file over the past few years and the only adverse still on is a default from 2008 which is listed as disputed because it is made up of mis-sold ppi but Lloyds won't remove it!
Same job for 18 years, same address for 12 years and on electoral roll!
Whats the point of the pre-check which uses the Experian site in the first place, if they just decline you when you follow through after they have done a more detailed search? Surely the default would show up on the pre-check?
Annoying because I wanted to use the 0% balance transfer to clear my debt repair Capital One card, and now all I have done is add an extra search onto my file!0 -

At least your default drops off soon, then you can give it another go.
There's lots of other 0% BT cards, use MSE's soft-check tool and have a go at a BarclayCard or something. I know people with bad credit who've been accepted for BarclayCard's BT's.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. The soft-check is just that, soft. Basically confirms who you are, your age, your income and your address.
It'll only fully search the CRA when you click the apply now button.
The default from 2008, until it comes off your record, will be the reason why - though I'm not trying to state the obvious.0 -

Does anyone know how long after opening a credit card account Nationwide will consider you for a credit limit increase?0
-
How long have you had it?
I've had mine 18 months now and have had 2 increases.0
