  • Last month nationwide quoted me 5.2k or 5.4k at 15.9% done it again and it's knocked me back to £4.5k so that's £700 less and nothing has changed on my report strange lot.

Don't need or want the card though.

people with 19.9 though have been accepted, more though have been declined at this rate too
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Someone on here got quoted 19.9% with £1200 and got a decline! So I reckon anything from £2k upwards is more likely to be an accept or refer...

I got accepted originally at £2000 and 19.9%.

    Now on Select at 15.9%

It is possible that Nationwide's credit scoring systems have changed since your last application and the it's also not a bottomless lending pot.

    Food for thought.
  • wont they have a set pot for new applications ?

they must be filling their trunche of new customers with the amount of us on here applying :-)

Regardless of whether they have a set pot or not, a whole host of factors could determine how much they have to lend at any given time.

As the "pot" gets low maybe they want to spread what's left across more applications?

At the end of the day we don't know.

You have to also consider that they constantly change their lending criteria on a monthly basis based on their current customer portfolio, how many have defaulted, how many paid off in full, how many missed payments etc etc based on like for like to your application - if you get my drift.

I've held a nationwide flex account for 8 years. Been at my present address almost 9 years.
Before my flex account i did not have a current bank account. It was rather basic. They didn't allow either a credit card nor even a debit card.
After 3-4 years I asked several times if I could have a debit card. They always refused. So, eventually I opened a current account with a different bank as a debit card was included, but kept open my flex account although it became rarely used from that point.
A short time after my new account had been operating Nationwide decided to replace the cash card with a debit card to all flex account holders as standard.
Now they have offered me their credit card with a £3300 limit @ 15.9%.
I have decided to take this up as the 20 month 0% bt will come in useful. Didn't seem to go through the soft search option, though.
