Nationwide Soft-Search

  • Once you've done one quote/soft search do you have to wait a certain amount of time before doing another one?

I got "approved" at the pre-hard-search stage with 19.9% and £1k which doesn't sound promising. Was thinking of paying down some existing cards then trying again.

    Thanks.

No, you can do soft searches as often as you like but it's probably not worthwhile doing so at least until your credit files have changed for the month. In terms of Nationwide, they use Experian only so keep an eye out for changes on there.

Even if your credit file changes, it may be that Nationwide don't use live data anyway - eg once they provide you a quote, they may not change that quote for at least a month even if your credit file changes beforehand.

jpb77 any update on yours? Has the DD been set up on your account?

Congrats! No nothing through the post - just checked bank account no DD set up yet! I'll take mine as slap decline.

  • My quote came out like this:

    Card chosen Nationwide Credit Card
Introductory offer chosen 0% for 6 months on purchases
    % APR representative (variable) 19.9%
Your maximum credit limit is shown here.
To choose another limit, please select from the list £1000

    What are my chances?

Do they actually look at your credit file at all when offering these quotes?

Doesn't look hopeful I'm afraid. But a couple of people have been accepted on here with those results.

Majority say that this will be an instant rejection if you go ahead with the full application.

I originally got offered £2000 with 19.9% and was instantly accepted. Since then I moved to their Select card and they reduced the APR to 15.9% :)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Defaulted bank account from late 2008. Otherwise perfect payment history. No CCJs etc.

Without teaching your grandmother to suck eggs, it'll be the defaulted bank account then that is causing that APR and credit limit.
