Chances are it'll be those defaults that caused the rejection.

I would think so who would of thought ehh.

TBH thats a bit sarcastic, I am well aware of what is on my credit file. We have spent the last few years working hard to clear our overdraft and other debts and only owe a mortgage now and all our payments are up to date for all our bills and i only went to nationwide for the soft search to see if we could get rid of the subprime cards (used to build credit score not to run up debt and paid in full).

Tbh I expected to get the highest APR and a low amount of credit on the soft search and I wouldn't have gone any further. I only applied as the soft search gave a lower apr and £1800 credit so made it look like I had a reasonable chance. Given that the soft search must have shown the defaults left it was not unreasonable for me to give it a go.

    Did you get this?
Thank you for applying for a Nationwide Credit Card. We are sorry but, after carefully considering your application, we are unable to offer you a credit facility. We have received information from our credit reference agency, Experian, which has adversely affected your application. We ask you to accept that we rely on the accuracy of the information supplied to us and that, unless there is some significant error in their data, our decision is final.

    Yep thats the one rich.

Never mind will leave it and keep as we are and try to get a "standard" card down the line. In 16 months with no defaults will try for a mainstream card.
At least a soft search in the future will give me a guide as to if my rating is improving with lenders.

Got a quote for 19.9% with £3200. Went for 0% on purchases for 6 months option. Then went to next page asking if I wanted to set up a DD - which I did.

    Then the following message appeared;

We will need to carry out some further checks before we can complete your application and will contact you in the next 10 working days to advise you whether we can progress your application.

If we need to make changes to the terms we can offer you we will let you know in writing.

Called up and they said its been referred to the new business team but closed due to bank holiday.

Checked my Experian report my score went from 865 to 840 after they did a hard search...

So 50/50 chance then or could offer a lower limit or something??

Did it let you digitally sign the agreement online? You put a tick in the box as if to sign your name?

Dont worry about your score, its meaningless.

Anything on your credit report that might go against you - be honest!

No it didn't, went from inputting the DD details then hit next then that page appeared... There is nothing on my report. No missed payments, no defaults, no CCjs - if I did I'm not that stupid as its a no brainer. Got a cap 1 card but the limit is stupididly low, never over limit and pay in full each month etc. Had a loan but paid in full early with in the 14 days of taking it out, so thats showing as settled with one green 0 lol. But what is interesting the report doesn't say how much the loan was no info on it which is interesting.

Sorry, I was editing and you must have replied, my bad - I think you digitally sign the agreement before any entry for setting up DD's - remember ticking any boxes on previous pages?

It'll say something like I [your name] hereby agree to sign and enter in a credit agreement blah blah blah kind of thing.

Yeah i had to read a pre contract page then the tick box activated then proceeded to the account options page i.e. DD set up. But it looked like a standard page - didn't ask for my name or anything.

Just re looked at the pre contract info - only thing confirmed that my APR is at 19.9% but no limit or name showing.

Ah right okay, well that is all it said for me at the end, same kind of text so I guess we're in the same boat. I am not that confident of getting one however.
