Yep, wait until September - when I first applied earlier this year the soft search came back with a decent limit and 19.9% - as soon as I hit apply I got an instant decline - totally due to an old default that was due to drop off..

Well it did drop off and when I applied again I got approved but this time with 9.9% apr..
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

I've never actually been declined on any soft search - the closest I've ever come is the Barclaycard soft search which stated that it was unlikely they could give me any card - that was when my IVA was still showing on my credit files..

...I should add that when my IVA dropped off credit files Barclaycard soft search showed 90+ per cent chance of getting their basic card - so I applied and got declined - the letter they sent stated it was due to my last account not being run in accordance with their conditions (it was in my IVA)..so I guess the soft search simply can't decline even when the company knows they're not going to grant the card..

It didn't cross your mind to apply for credit from an institution that you hadn't defaulted on previously then , surely thats just basic common sense?

Ordinarily yes, but this is the credit industry we're talking about. I wanted to see if creditors forgave or forgot..as it turns out Lloyds TSB did subsequently give me their duo card(s) even though they too were a creditor in IVA.

Barclaycard said no, but it could have gone either way and I've proved the soft search limitations..hopefully that's of use to some..

I understand AMEX blacklist for life as well..

Amex don't blacklist if you do actually pay it all off on some payment plan with them.

Do you know that out of experience?

I have been a flex account customer since April 7th 2012. Got 15.9% and £2800 limit on soft search, for the 6mths 0% purchases. What does this mean?

I was rejected for Lloyds avios card and Tesco card 6 months ago. Should I retry Lloyds?

Declined automatically by fluid's soft search, maybe because I moved house recently. It didn't ask me about my previous address whereas every other bank application in the past has.
