Good afternoon everyone,
Welcome to soapy, and to seroxat_chick - i hope your results are ok later this week xxx
Blairweech - Good luck this afternoon xx
Well, ive had a busy, but productive morning - had my blood test, and no bruise on my arm, im hoping thats a good sign for tomorrow!!! Ive posted all my ebay parcels, need to find some more things to list now. Cleaned the bathroom, toilets and living room, just need to hoover downstairs, but i always do that later in the evening, someone will always drag some more dirt through the house if i have hoovered already!!!!
We are having HM chicken curry for dinner tonight, so have already boiled the rice ready, and so should only take about 10 minutes to put it all together later, so nice and easy.
Right, going to play trains with the little ones,
Have a great afternoon, ((HUGS)) to anyone who needs one.
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

Well back from the hospital and took alot longer than I thought. I ended up with a bunch of blood tests, an injection and an iron infusion as my blood count had dropped again:eek:      ....I hate needles but I was very grown up;) Have to go back next week:mad:
Lamb stew smells and tastes delicious. Have the suet out ready to make the dumplings in an hour or so and cant wait. Its our friends favourite and he always gobbles down with loads of bread and butter
DW has been emptied and a quick flick downstairs as we had to dash this morning. OH has called the dentist to make an appointment, he also has to call the OU about a course he is interested in and have to pack a parcel for JL as they are picking up in the morning.
Hugs too all.

Good afternoon to you all, sorry for not being on here for a few days but i have been very down and not able to communicate with folks.
Have been doing admin up til now today, £19.96 after vouchers so not bad. However, spending is not low this month at all. I will total it up at the end of the month and you can all gasp at how extravagant I am, all I can say in my defence is that i spend a tiny fraction of what I used to spend.
This coming weekend we have my step daughter (19), her girlfriend and my step son (15) coming over for the day. I am not very good at coping with this and I am dreading it. The SS did not speak to me for 2 years and apparently tore up cards and letters with my name included on during that time. I did see him between Xmas and new year and he was ok but this time it will be in my home and I am not looking forward to it. DH has decided that they may now be able to have a relationship but I am feeling a bit left out of it all as I cannot find any + feeling for this child at all!!!
As for SD and her partner, I get on ok with them but a similar situation exists as she lived with us for over a year and then went home to her Mum and refused to talk to me or have any thing to do with me. Now we have a "false" relationship where I feel that they do not like me and I do not really like them but we are all overly nice to each other!!!
DH wants to pay for driving lessons for SD but we can't afford it and has opened a bank account for SS so that we can give him an allowance each week which is great but again we cannot afford it. I feel like I am the only one making an effort to save money and this is one more instance of money we don't have being spent.
DH reckons if it was one of my kids then I would find the money - maybe he is right, but they do live with us and they do contribute to family life and they have never not spoken to us or rejected him!!! He even through my son out of the house for a year and he still stayed in touch and eventually came home on our terms!!!!
I do not know what to do - I feel that I am taken for granted and not considered.
Well either I have to do some more admin or the ironing. DD3 will be home in a few mins and I will have to spend some time with her finding out about her day.
Love to all - CCSTAR, Kyle and PP especially - i know how you all feel.

Afternoon all...got to go and collect DD in a minute...via a shop again and I was doing so well with not spending money
I popped in here for a reason though, I've heard alot of you talk about using a tumble drier and was just wondering whether you had any recommendations? I could really do with one, preferably a condenser one I know as I couldn't vent it anywhere without leaving a window or door open  I've seen one on Boots.com (836 points as well) but I really don't know what to look for. Can anyone give me some ideas of a good quality brand that won't break the bank but will pay for itself quite quickly....£150 on gas this winter is making me think of other ways of drying clothes...laundrette is £1 for 20 mins and hardly makes a dent in the dampness of bedding etc
Plus I'm thinking of the warmth produced by it
Any recommendations would be really appreciated as it will help sort out our mould problem as well...hopefully

dlb and everyone else
Well, am still trying to catch up with all that was said over the weekend.
Adoption has made very interesting reading and food for thought. I think anyone who adopts usually does so for the very right reasons and is wonderful. The reason I say this is that I was adopted when only 3 months old. As long as I remember I have known this and my adoptive family were (and still are!) my family. My parents went on to adopt my brother 6 years after me. I have an older sister who wasn't adopted. Medical reasons stopped Mum from having any more children after her.
Well, I have always known I was adopted and never a problem for me. I remember sitting with Mum explaining to my brother how 'special' we are etc etc. He seemed to cope fine but had a bit of a problem in his teens - trying to call himself by his birth name which he found on a document he shouldn't have looked for!
However, neither of us have ever felt we want to find out who either of our birth mothers are. I just feel in the early 1950s there would be a very good reason for two mums giving up children for adoption.
Somewhere I actually have a 39 year old who I gave up for adoption. My sister offered to look after the child but I knew I could not cope with that. From my own experience I felt the child would be better cared for elsewhere. I subsequently heard that parents who had tried for a child for years undertook the adoption.
I have registered with the adoption society should this person ever want to get in touch. My DH and my own children are aware that there is an older half sibling. Although I wonder what sort of life this person may have had I never doubt for one moment I made the right decision.
I think it is because of above my own children and my grandchildren are my whole world (apart from DH of course!)
Sorry to be a bit deep on a Monday afternoon. If I had been around on Friday, having had a couple of glasses of red, I hate to think what I would have been like.
dlb - you are wonderful!0 -
Hello everyone. Hugs to those who are feeling low-esp. jellycat.seroxat_chick and gingin:grouphug:
grannybroon My uncle and aunt adopted two girls (biological sisters) when my (biological cousins) were 18 and 16. My U&A felt they still had lots of love to give, so my new cousins arrived! They were 10 and 5 at the time, so it was a bit different to your situation. Their biological mum had died and neither their biological dad and step dad wanted themThey had been in foster care for two years before they became part of our family, poor wee things.
OS for today-silver jewellery making class! Dunno if it is proper OS, but it's making something rather than buying!:rotfl: Am starting to make a necklace and earrings for my Mum's 60th birthday present.0 -
