As Tesco is a multi-billion pound business, based almost COMPLETELY on manipulating food prices, overcharging for essentials, thus pulling the wool over the customer's eyes and extracting the maximum in profit - you know what occurs to me?

(Being a cynical thing). Tesco probably have analysts that can calculate to the last tin of beans, what we are going to buy. Their computerised projections will be the ultimate in sophistication. There should be no surprises for them. So why the glitches - and why so many, all of a sudden?

I think they are deliberate. I think Tesco are doing it on purpose. Because, for each 'quick! grabbit!' post that is made here, hundreds if not thousands of MSE'ers are rushing off to Tesco to find the bargain.

MOST WILL NOT. You see yourself on here, how many people are disappointed. But what they WILL do, while they are on the premises, is buy other things.

And so Tesco wins again. They are extracting profit from even the most money conscious of us. The biter is bit!

On an associated point: You know, when I saw the posts on here from the handful of people who have managed to pick up dozens, even hundreds, of cheap cereal, pasta etc through the glitches, or through adroit use of coupons, it did occur to me to think: "Is that going too far? do these people have too much nerve?"

You know what? Try as I might, I cannot find it in myself to condemn them. I say, "good luck to you!". Because their tiny 'win' against Tesco is like a drop in the ocean of the massive profits. So keep on doing it, people! :T

I'm not so sure Tesco have been forced to change a number of policies or initiatives because of those of us on MSE who take advantage when we can - R&R was scrapped due to our success, the DTD scheme was changed a number of times until finally being changed to JTD. So obviously Tesco don't see it as a drop in the ocean.

  • I remember grabbit forum was for when deals were actually posted most of the time too, still at least you dont have difficulty finding them on hotukdeals rather than wade through the posts like where can I find xxxx?

    I to remember and agree.
  • I may live in the last city on earth without a Tescos (apart from 1 Metro and 1 express) we do though have a few desolate wasteland sites owned by them :(

The City of Lancaster is surviving, although we finally gained an express last year :(

life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.
  • Oh come on, Tesco's must be rubbing their hands in excitement with all the cheap publicity they get on here!. This is one of the busiest and most popular forums and their name is all over it!.

So what if they lose a few quid here and there to some of you. They dont really care, because a) they have you got you into the store and b) they know all too well as soon as you step in their store to find that elusive bargain, whether you get it or not, you will also be buying "other items" you might otherwise be buying in a competitors store, and in huge numbers :)

If it is part of a deliberate ploy, and it could well be, their marketing department has got it spot on top marks!. Who knows, they may even post the "mistakes" here themselves....
  • I decided to go to Waitrose today for a day off Tesco. .
i tried that, and i found myself thinking "is this the right sel?" and "i wonder if there is a glitch on this item" and also checking everyones trolley seeing if i couls spot another mse.:o
