My mother used to cook in lard too. And we had lino on the floor and only two tv channels. Those were the days my friends. Mary.

We always had 3 tv channels, even in 'the old days.' BBC1, BBC2 and our local ITV channel. How come you only had two?

Although launched in 1964 BBC2 was only available to people that had a set that could receive the new 625line UHF system.
Most had a 405line VHF tv that could only receive BBC1 and ITV until they "upgraded" both set and aerial.. Sounds familiar :p

I do agree that there is a high number of Tesco threads (though lower today!). My problem is that the deals are usually either "meh" - average offers that you'll find in any supermarket - stuff will always be on offer, doesn't mean its urgent and deserves to block out the view of the real deals. Or, the offers are local, available only in one store as an apparent manager special / Tesco playing the system and getting free web exposure. A few times I've called into my local Tesco on the way home, and I haven't found any cheap cat food, pyrex dishes or wine. I've now given up and ignore unless its clear its national and also available on the website.

Perhaps we need a split on the offers - online and instore, or maybe local and national (web offers generally implying its nationally available). But yes, none-grabbit threads will crop up in this forum, as do renting threads in the DIY forum. People need to actively report threads to the mods so that they quickly hear about them and can get them moved, rather than post "wrong forum" and "don't post here, post there" as that just results in people posting the same thing a few times - they'll then inevitably ignore one of the threads that gets active responses to their original query.
