I was 76 kg when I weighed myself just after new years. I have been listening to this CD every couple of days and I am now 70.5 kg. I've lost a stone since Christmas! This is probably due to not eating what I was over Christmas, but I think the CD has helped.

I brought a big bar of galaxy at the weekend and only had 4 squares. Normally I would have the whole bar without thinking. I had a sausage in a bread roll for breakfast the other day and I savoured every last bit, normally I'd eat it without thinking.

I will keep you posted on my weight loss.
  • I've just read all the posts in this thread and I hope remember everything I want to say.
First of all I have never met anyone who has gone on a diet and kept the weight off. They seem to work to lose weight but as soon as you stop the diet the weight goes back on, and more, and you tend to be more obsessed with food afterwards. In fact anyone I have ever known that has been on a diet is overweight.
The only people I know that have lost weight and kept it off are people who have made permanent changes to their lifestyle. Dieting is not something that can be kept up permanantly because it involves you taking in less calories than your body needs, hence your body goes into starvation mode. This encourages binging and obsessive behaviour towards foods.
Everyone knows that the best way to stay slim is to eat a balanced diet and do regular exercise. So why don't we? This is because we are not rational beings, we all do things that aren't good for us, it's not enough to tell yourself to do something, you need to visualise it, imagine it actually happening.
That is where the I can make you thin system comes in. The ideas in it aren't new but they are packaged in a way to make it easier to follow and the CD reenforces all the ideas.
Yes to stay slim you need to follow the golden rules for the rest of your life, whats wrong with that, once they become habit and replace your old style of eating then this should not be a problem and it is a very enjoyable way of eating, you get to enjoy every mouthful, savour the tastes and textures and never feel bloated and sick from eating again, plus you never have to eat something you don't like ever again.
I have lots of naturally thin friends and I've watched them eat and they all eat like paul suggests in the four golden rules. They all eat whatever they want including crisps and chocolate but they never over do it, we've all heard it "everything in moderation".
Personally I have never felt so much freedom around food, I have lost at least 7 lbs and don't need to lose anymore as I am not overweight now, I am happier with my body, I do more exercise easily and I am no longer addicted to chocolate, I still eat it but it is no longer a daily habit and it doesn't have the emotional hold it used to have. I tend to eat less and so have saved money on food. I don't listen to the CD daily, I'd like to but I don't always get round to it, but the 4 rules are ingrained in me now and you don't need to listen to the CD forever.
Anyway if you want some support while following this system there is a yahoo support group started by a fellow MSEr and I think this has been invaluable to me in sticking with the system, I quit the first time I tried it because I let my perfectionism get in the way and I thought because I wasn't doing it all perfectly it wouldn't work, I was wrong, it takes time for it all to be habit, and noone gets it all straight away.
The link to the yahoo group is here:
    http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/ICMYTsupport/
You have to sign up to view the messages, I think it is the biggest weightloss group on yahoo uk, anyway if its not the biggest it is the most used. Someone on there has lost 11 stone so far!!! There's plenty of successful members.
Also someone asked about spinning, it's explained on this sky site:
    http://www.skyone.co.uk/mckenna/spinning/
Also if anyone wanted to see techniques explained by Paul himself this is the link for the video clips about losing weight, stopping smoking and reducing your fears that have at one point been on GMTV:

Hope the links work. Hope I was of help to some people, good luck with your weightloss, Chemgirl.

I've read through this old thread and wondering how people are getting on?
did you lose weight with the McKenna method?
and did you keep it off?
are there any other NLP strategies which help?

I was using the CD and book, and let the good habits slip when life got busy, and 2 years on, I'm 2+ stone heavier. I asked the GP for help, but they only recommended calorie counting or even diet shakes, but I don't think it's the answer for me.

Plain and simple - it works when you listen regularly to the cd, it is great. But once you let that slip, so do you - back into old habits. I lost over a stone and a half without any trouble at all, but let it slip on hols and after, so need to listen to it again regularly.
  • Is anyone still following this? If so how are people getting on?
I'm hoping it will help with my obsession around food. I need to lose weight, but more importantly i need to stop beating myself up!

  • Is anyone still following Paul McKenna's book? Or did anyone get serious results - or know someone who did?
I'm looking for someone who would be interested in doing a magazine feature on this book. My no. is 07958 601875. There will be a small fee.
