Hi,
Just thought I'd drop in my opinion as I'm a Clinical Hypnotherapist and have looked into a lot of Paul Mckenna's stuff as it is obviously marketed very well, what's worth noting is that some of what I see as the most useful things that the Paul Mckenna System provides is the NLP work, changing the way you think and perceive the world makes far more difference than any diet. I'd be happy to share some basic techniques for anyone that'd be interested.....
Oh and I noticed some said in an earlier post about hypnosis still working if you fall asleep, that's not strictly true, you may have just hit a deeper level of hypnosis and that definitely does work because the therapist can then talk almost directly to your subconscious, and the suggestions will "take" better. But if you fall truly asleep hypnosis is not as effective, as a hypnotherapist it's obvious to me when someone has hit deep hypnosis or fallen asleep and I can talk then up or down through different levels to obtain maximum effect from the work I'm doing but unfortunately the tape/CD can't do that.
In my opinion the book is pretty good, it's well written and does mean you come away motivated, I personally would say maybe write down his "rules" in places where you'll see them for at least the first few weeks while you get used to the concept of eating like that….0 -
Thankyou for your opinion Anu it shows that it really is worthwhile having a try.
I should be careful about offering help though - maybe suggesting a book that goes through the techniques that you're talking about would be a much safer option...You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:

As mentioned already, he's on GMTV this week, and all the info is on their website including short video clips with the key points. The videos are only staying till Jan 30th, but you can email them to someone (or even yourself, as I did!)
He has also been on Sky 3, Thursday 10pm talking about the same techniques in a seminar/chat format. V interesting.
I'm following his rules and finding it (a) easy and (b) working in that I haven't been snacking at all, and I'm feeling full after meals because I'm eating slowly and thinking about what I'm eating instead of gulping it down (as I used to). It's too early to say anything about weight loss, and I haven't been checking (as he instructs), but I can't see how it can fail. Eat less ... lose weight - surely?
I've also tried the tapping technique to help me resist temptation. I succeeded without difficulty, so I'll keep using this if I need it.
And finally I've also tried visualising my binge food (cheese) mixed with revolting things to make me less likely to raid the fridge.
I'm finding it fascinating, and I'm extremely pleased that he's spreading the word on free media, so you don't actually have to buy the book or CD or attend the seminar.0 -
Keep us posted PNEfan on how you get on

Mics_chick wrote:Bought the book with CD inside ages ago but never done anything about it but now definitely want to give it a try so I'm gonna put it on when I go to bed tonight - my OH needs to lose some as well although not as much as me!!
Has anyone else followed this and did you lose weight?
Have you kept it off?
Didn't it work for you at all?
Please let me know what you think and/or about your experiences...
i bought it too last year, and listened to it once a night for several weeks. i started leaving a bit of food on my plate, but thats all. i didnt lose any weight as a result of the cd. a couple of months after giving up i joined slimming world online and that works for me great. its a nice relaxing cd though, chills you out! x0 -
I've bought the I can make you thin book in Waterstones, half price, £5.49. I've not listened to the CD but I've been following the plan etc, eating slowly, chewing thoroughly etc and I've been leaving food on my plate too and I've lost around 10 pounds since the first week of January. I also tried the tapping technique to put me off chocolate and it has worked, I can take it or leave it, I've not eaten any chocolate for about 3 weeks. Been eating a lot of fruit, nuts, and drinking more water. If you reach a plateau in your weight loss it could be that you have an allergy addiction to something. Every time you eat something that you are allergy addicted to your body retains a bit of fluid and continues to do so until you stop eating the offending food. Then the weight should continue to go down. Good Luck everyone who is on it, giving it a go. I find it works and the tapping technique works too.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. Mics_Chick,
I saw little clips of him on GMTV and also I saw him on Sky Three on Thursday nights. So long as you eat consciously, chew your food really well and really focus on when you are hungry when you are full etc, then you should lose weight. I know my downfall is chocolate, carbs in general. I got some Ryvita Goodness bars the other day in Tesco, currently on offer until 30/1/07, £3 for two boxes, 6 bars per box. If I'm out I have one in my bag to stave off hunger should I need it and then I have something decent to eat when I get home. Before I used to get a hot chocolate and a scone or something but avoid that now. I drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fruit. I've found also that if I have a heavy dinner (roast dinner for example with potatoes, veg etc) I don't feel hungry next morning and tend not to have anything much until around 10/11am. I do eat what I want but I make a conscious effort to eat healthy. I don't crave chocolate any more either. I have a juicer and like carrot juice so in the morning I have warm water with lemon juice and then carrot juice.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot.
