Politley ask! It is their policy which is often displayed behind CC.

    Hi Guys,

This is my first post, so please be gentle!

If I spot an item which is incorrectly priced and DTD applies, what do I do if CS refuse to give me DTD. I have read on here that you email or speak to CS @ HO, however what do they require? Is it a copy of the receipt, picture of the SEL lable etc? If you could let me know I would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

Firstly, start small to get your confidence!

Go through a manned checkout and pay without questioning the amount. Check your receipt as you go to leave the store and then go to Customer Services.

Tell them that you have been overcharged and then accompany them to the SEL (so that it doesn't 'disappear' ;))

Most times with a small overcharge you will be offered DTD straight away. Sometimes they will attempt to give you just the difference (JTD), but by then you will have noticed the big blue board at CS which states their DTD policy and you may have to give them a reminder. Offering JTD is their admission of guilt so it shouldn't be too difficult to get the rest.

The use of photos is questionable. You do not have to right to take photos on Tesco premises without their permission, so it may cause friction.

If they are stubborn you could then contact HO, but I would use it with caution as if this happens too many times your name will be flagged! HO will be able to verify your claim from the receipt details and if they have already given JTD then they have in effect admitted guilt, so you should get the rest back.

Remember the more you have to fight your corner the more you will be remembered in store so try to keep a low profile if you want to use the policy at that store again.

    Thank you OP....

I managed to pick one of cars today SEL said £70 sticker on it said £35 went through at £70..... Free Remote control car for my nephew for his birthday!!!!!! :T:T:T:T:T

I visited my local store in F*rnworth and found the RC cars.

The SEL showed £70 and the items had the red dot half price sticker taken off them. Undeterred, I decided to check the ones at the back (hoping somebody got bored removing the labels!) and I managed to discover 5 with the half price sticker still on showing £35.

Result I thought. So I head to the checkout with some other bits of bobs preparing myself for a confrontation with CS staff.

However, I then have the item scanned and low and behold it scans at £35! Unbelievable!

SO the SEL showed £70, the stickers had been ripped off most of them,
and still they scanned at £35. Just my luck with DTD experiences. :(

just got my dtd for the first time

i purchased 2 meal deals with my shopping from Mr t after asking a member of staff what was in the meal deal range because there were no labels advertising the meal deal she went and checked at cs and came back and showed me the range of options

one went through at ten pounds and the other at full price so i went to cs and explained that i had been overcharged on the meal deal and that i had asked a member of staff what was in the range and that is how i made my selection

the lady on cs marched me over to the other side of the shop on the way i explained that there was no signs to indicate what was on offer and she said the meal deal was off ?

at this point i said how can it bee off if one has gone through successfully on my receipt

she did not answer me when we got to the meal deal she could See it was not clear at all what you could select as there are no sel or signs for the meal deal range

she then disappeared and came back with the manager who had a right attitude and was not nice at all

he then begrudgingly agreed to a refund i then asked about ts policy about overcharge he then came up with every excuse under the sun not to honer it like their is no sel so it does not apply and it is only for mispriced items i said does it say that on your blue board behind cs and i asked a member of staff before i purchased

he was not amused it looked like the battle axe on cs had not told him i had checked with cs before i purchased he then agreed to dtd

but he made out he was doing me a favour like i was scrounging

at this point i said this is ts policy not mine so you are not doing me a favour

took my gift card for £19 pound od and left :j

but why should i be treated like a scrounger and a child and told not to swear for using the word bloody witch is not a swear word

i think i will complain further about there attitudes

Never mind a gift card it shouldn't have been cash or back on your card! But I can see it wouldn't have been worth pursuing in that instance.

Just thought I'd let people know about another price match in the meal deal that is beneficial and it's the 1 x T FINEST ITALIANCHEESE GARLIC FOUGASSE 230G TESCO £1.99 ASDA £1.25

It's flat and about the size of a small pizza - some sort of flat garlic bread thing that looked quite nice - a lucky guess! So I ended up getting £4.03 back on the meal deal.

The chicken with lemon and herb butter was a no match, as were the strawberry cheesecake slices. Anyone found any others that are giving JTD?

They probably know but they can't prove anything. I always stride towards the doors checking my receipt, furrow my brow, then head to customer services.

A couple of times they have mentioned that I often seem to be overcharged but I tell them it is because I check my receipt, 99% of people don't, and they are all getting ripped off by Tescos. Usually shuts them up.

I think the Duracell 4pks have continued on BOGOF which is annoying because there are tons on clip strips. The 6pks haven't but are rarer.

:rotfl: looks like you will be banned next then  (only joking)

I'd be worried if CS staff were making such remarks to me.
The problem I have is that I only have one store close to me, the rest are all more than five miles away. Luckily this store is great for DTD - literally, you have your choice over what DTD items you want to get.

Because of this, and hearing that people have been banned before, I went in all guns blazing at the start and made a massive fuss about all the overcharges, got HO on the store managers back, etc. etc. Because of this now they seem to be content to give me DTD easily if I don't make much of a fuss (apart from a particularily sour-faced "Compliance Manager" will stand at CS and say that the incorrect SEL isn't misleading, e.g. £2 off stickered price means the £2 is already taken off the price on the sticker... bizarre!).

It may not work for everyone but it works for me (saying that I will probably be banned tomorrow :))

Two more misprices today, not great ones though.

Energiser Ultra+ batteries clipstrips, marked as £3.25/2for£4 on clipstrips, scanned through at £6.50 for £1.50 after DTD.

Also all the yellow SELs for books had gone but there were plenty which still had the £2 off sticker price red label on, label has expiry of 1/Feb. £4 DTD on them all, from what I could see (this is the second time I have got this DTD, they keep putting out more books).
