There must be quite a big glitch on the Finest £10 meal deal. Just done my shopping and the CO assistant asked me if i had bought a meal deal. I said 'yes' and she said she would have to check if it went through. It didn't so she called over the Checkout manager who override the purchase then just charged me the £10 for it! Gutted!!:( Missed out on a great DTD. Damn efficient CO staff!!
Perhaps i was unlucky, there may be some less vigilant CO staff out there. Worth a try. I bought: Finest Pinot Grigio
    Finest Steak Pastries
    Finest Creamy Mash
    Finest Strawberry Cheesecake slices
Total without discount £14.73. Overcharge of £4.73, therefore £9.46 DTD
I hope someone can benefit from a potential meal deal for 54p on these.

BUT you had paid them £14.73 :D

    That's what I was thinking - so meal deal cost £5.27 - still a bargain! :)
"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being".
"Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that".
"True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".

  • Just been in Pitsea store (Extra) HP print cartridges are on 3 for 2 at the moment so picked up 3 at £12.97 each so should have cost £25.94 but went through at full price at £38.91 so overcharge of £12.97 so DTD back of £25.94 so cost me £12.97 i.e. the price of 1 for 3.

so the offer should really say Buy 1 get 2 free :D

I went and got another meal deal as follows today:

Montepulciano D'abruzzo Wine £8.29 T's £5.00 A's (had to go and find it in the wine section as the wine and SEL had been removed from the meal deal section)
    Fougasse as before £1.99 T's / £1.25 A's
    Chicken Chasseur
    Tarte au Citron

It did trigger the £10 meal deal, so think they may have just told stores to remove it from meal deal section without actually removing it from the offer on the computer?

May have slipped up getting the Tarte au Citron as just looked on mysupermarket at A's do an Extra Special one at £1, vs. T's at £2.50.
If they don't match that though I should get another voucher for £4.03, so in effect meal deal for £5.97! :T

I read it as the OP just paid the £10 becaus the manager overrode the whole transaction, cancelled the £14-odd and recharged at £10, so they didn't get a fab deal just the standard £10!!

I went to have a look for the meal deal but the ones you mentioned (steak pasties etc) were not in the offer. Boo :(

Yes but the point was that to get a DTD refund of £9.46 from an overcharge of £4.73 you had to pay £14.73 and NOT £10 ....

and therefore the deal is not for just 54p

but £5.27 as posted by RedBalloon

(In my original post read "WOULD HAVE" instead of "HAD")

Also no steak pastries in Meal Deal in D!dcot :(

Did get another lovely DTD though (sorry if you are sick of hearing of these - not sure if they are nationwide or just D!dcot being especially rubbish): -

Josephine Cox - Three Letters - yellow stickered half price £7.49, SEL and scans at £16.95 for £1.97 DTD + free books.

(And yes, I suspect all the managers at D!dcot have voodoo dolls with my photo on now :rotfl: was told by trout "So you know, you can't get a refund on these [four copies] any more". I didn't have the heart to correct her.)
