I was looking to buy a Radio Controlled Mud Slinger car for my son (more for me really, but shhhh!) and when i arrived at Mr T in H0r$4am i noticed that the £35 sel had gone and the half price toy sale red dot sticker had been roughly ripped off. I scanned it and it scanned at £100 :( quite disappointed, i wandered upstairs to price check some galaxy bars ;) and noticed a pile of r/c racing cars, by the same manufacturer, but not the same cars, with a big A4 price of £35 and the trusty red dot half price toy sale sticker on it. Having knocked several old ladies out the way to get to the scanner as quickly as possible, it scanned at £70. Whoooop. free with DTD. b/c ends 8132 and is a New Bright invader Radio controlled off road sports buggy. Both red and black designs work. If anyone can find the mud slinger trucks by the same people (bigger scale pickup truck or land rover), then theres a £30 DTD payout to take it away as the sel is £35 and scans at £100 :)

Went looking for these yesterday but no luck so went to a different store today. Found a big display of cars all with red stickers clearly ripped off and no price so presumed I was out of luck. However found one with a big red sticker still on saying half price, was £30, now £15 (obiously a smaller version of the one you got). Both scanners in this store broke so went to self serve, waited till sa not looking and scanned - bingo, £30, swiftly paid and trotted off to cs.
CS lady called for manager. Manager came up with a face like thunder, didn't talk to me but told the sa they were £30, if I didn't like it I could have refund!
I said, no, it says £15 on it so I have been overcharged.
She said, ok, let her have it for £15 - as a goodwill gesture! By this point I was well peeved, she was talking to me through the sales !!! and looking at me like I was something she had trod in. I commented that it was not a good will gesture to 'let' me have a product at the price it was advertised at. Manager ignored me and started to sort through some other paperwork. So I calmly said, erm on that poster behind you it states that if you have been overcharged you get dtd, I've been overcharged so I expect you to follow your policy and give me dtd, manager ignored me. sa looking very embarassed asked the Manager what to do, manager yells 'oh just give it her'. I then politly said that I felt the Manager needed some retraining as she clearly didn't know how to follow tesco policies' - she stormed off.

Funnily enough the sa and the sa next to us were both very polite and smiled at me - possibly quite pleased to see somebody give this battleaxe a run for her money!

So, after a battle - 1 free r/c car for my son :D

Very pleased but very disgruntled with the way the manager treated me and the battle I had to endure to get dtd. Now should I just be happy I got it and leave it as that or should I let head office know the difficulties I had in getting a manager to follow their own polices???????

....... And big thank you OP for this info

I do believe that head office would be extremly pleases to hear about their trollop of a manager, & the other staff she bullies (If she talks to them like that would probably really appreciate it to). Well done fy the way for your bargain:beer:

HO CS would be pleased to hear this, just think if it was someone else who didn't know the policy.
This happened to me a few times in one store and was only when I got overcharged in another store that I got DTD and they said I sould get it everytime I was over charged. Needless to say when it happened again I knew where I stood but so many people don't.

HO need to be informed about bad policy keepers and managers, they would be  to hear the way she treated you. Phone them and follow up with email to CEO.

One to look out for: Weetabix Bites Choc Chip 375g are on special offer £1.00 but the 500g pack looks almost identical and is still £1.99. They put the wrong type out in D!dcot (presumably had loads in stock as the smaller pack is better value), so 1p each after DTD.

It sounds strange but the difference in box size is literally less than an inch.

Thank you for your support Miss Dizzy and SpirallingDown. I may compose an e-mail tomorrow - seems there are too many rude managers working for Tesco!
• Ok - sorry if I get any of this wrong...this is my first post!

I've just been looking at the half price offers on Tesco.com and the Mcvities mini chocolate croissants say they are half price - £1 reduced to 50p...

Yet in my basket and the price at the side says £1.50. Does that mean it would qualify for DTD? Or is that only in store?
• and if that's the case then the toiletry black bag was £1.20 and is now 60p is showing at £1.20 still so if you DO get DTD online that would make it free! Right?

I've just spotted this on Tesco.com and it could be an interesting one - and if anyone posts this elsewhere else don't forgot to credit the source:

Maschio Prosecco Spumante Extra Dry 75Cl

Special Offer Half Price Was £1.99 Now 99p

valid from tomorrow (31/1/2012) until 7/2/2012

The proper staring price is £11.99, so one way or another an SEL for 99p will mean an amazing deal.

Just been for a quick 'reckie' on this - in my store SEL is £11.99, bottle is scanning through at £5.99. HTH
