Hi has anyone done a jtd on the red finest wine on the meal deal lately please. Hoping to do one later if its still working on price check.0

Went looking for these yesterday but no luck so went to a different store today. Found a big display of cars all with red stickers clearly ripped off and no price so presumed I was out of luck. However found one with a big red sticker still on saying half price, was £30, now £15 (obiously a smaller version of the one you got). Both scanners in this store broke so went to self serve, waited till sa not looking and scanned - bingo, £30, swiftly paid and trotted off to cs.
CS lady called for manager. Manager came up with a face like thunder, didn't talk to me but told the sa they were £30, if I didn't like it I could have refund!
I said, no, it says £15 on it so I have been overcharged.
She said, ok, let her have it for £15 - as a goodwill gesture! By this point I was well peeved, she was talking to me through the sales !!! and looking at me like I was something she had trod in. I commented that it was not a good will gesture to 'let' me have a product at the price it was advertised at. Manager ignored me and started to sort through some other paperwork. So I calmly said, erm on that poster behind you it states that if you have been overcharged you get dtd, I've been overcharged so I expect you to follow your policy and give me dtd, manager ignored me. sa looking very embarassed asked the Manager what to do, manager yells 'oh just give it her'. I then politly said that I felt the Manager needed some retraining as she clearly didn't know how to follow tesco policies' - she stormed off.
Funnily enough the sa and the sa next to us were both very polite and smiled at me - possibly quite pleased to see somebody give this battleaxe a run for her money!
So, after a battle - 1 free r/c car for my son
Very pleased but very disgruntled with the way the manager treated me and the battle I had to endure to get dtd. Now should I just be happy I got it and leave it as that or should I let head office know the difficulties I had in getting a manager to follow their own polices???????
....... And big thank you OP for this info
thanks for sharing, had the exact same happen to me this week but had to walk away from the counter with only JTD. I then contacted head office who gave me DTD on a gift card and I have reported the said mananger with a recomendation that she learns her own policies. It will help anyone in the future who is dealing with the old trout!
Im surprised she didnt give you the old "cant have DTD on the self scan!" had that excuse tooHappy days

Yes, I got it on Sunday and price checked - results e- mail yesterday with £3.29 voucher attached as asda cheaper. Don't forget to buy the deal seperatly though as I didnt realise this at first so didn't get my jtd the first deal I got as other shopping was on offer so total bill cheaper at tesco0 -
Its the last day to get 12 pack of cadbury creme eggs for £2.75, got a few last night for easter0

It seems it's getting harder and harder to get DTD due to rude and intimidating staff. Anyone else think a little 'bad publicity' might push Tesco into following its own policies? Most people don't even know about DTD, I for one feel it should be compulsary for Tesco to advertise it throughout the store and not hidden away behind a counter! Are supermarkets governed by a superior body like Trading Standards? Wouldn't it have been interesting if the guy above with the remote car had been a reporter!! Surely if Tesco are breaking their price policy they should not just be allowed to get away with it. The obvious question is of course 'is Tesco Head Office telling it's staff not to offer DTD'? what other explanation can there be for the staff's attitude?0

I personally wouldnt... we need to adopt, "we win some, we lose some" saying that, you dont lose anyway, all you need to do is contact HO and the rest of your refund will be sent to you via gift card..
Please dont do this, Tesco might decide to take DTD out of it's policy completely..0 -

I posted this on another thread earlier
Just found this

Quite old but most things still going on today.
A couple of things you may want to write down.
Dtd has to be given under Section 14 of the Trade Descriptions Act.
By displaying the fact they operate a dtd policy they are obliged by law to give it.
The Consumer Protection Act 1987 says it is a criminal offence for a trader to display misleading price indications. If prosecuted, a company can face a maximum fine of £5,000 for each individual offence
This could be quoted if they try and say the barcodes are different or similar.
By quoting any of the above you could result in putting yourself on the radar or possibly being banned so only use in extreme circumstances.0 -
