At the till it was starred on my receipt (does this mean it is a promotion as the other promotional items bought were all starred?) .
I think the * means its vatable - it certainly does for food.
    The * means discontinued.

I think that the * on the SEL means the item is discontinued, but the * on the receipt means the item is vatable (seems to ring a bell when I was completing my expenses forms for work) HTH

As someone who doesn't really give a damn to be honest, I couldn't really care less if you forgive me or not.

However, since [STRIKE]your [/STRIKE]you're obviously a [STRIKE]t[/STRIKE]Tesco 1p [STRIKE]no[/STRIKE] 'know-it-all', explain to the simpletons, like me, how they do it.

    ah Laura....

why not listen to the words of those who have been looking for, and sharing, glitches, even longer than I've been using these boards?

Giving info to everyone, on a plate, has resulted in these scenarios already:

A DTD spreadsheet was made, against the wishes of lots of people, because it would open the floodgates. Perhaps you'll remember that it did, people who couldn't be bothered to do any legwork, take any risks in purchases to see if they came back N/A or not, could simply look at a daily updated list, and compile their list, and go shopping. The huge surge in numbers of people then claiming DTD, caused an immediate closure of the scheme, to everyone's loss.

A facebook group was started, with pictures collated in one easy place, for low priced items. T's may be able to view their own systems, but don't appear to do so. Instead, someone/some people from T's, gained access to the group, downloaded the pictures, and distributed them to the till staff, with the warning that none of these cheap items were then to be sold through the tills.

So yes, we've learnt to keep things subtle. We share, we post our finds.

But we do not do T's job for them.

  • Can you imagine if all those years ago, rather than Martin setting this website up, he just kept his knowledge to himself. No-one wouldve benefited from it. Knowledge is for sharing, otherwise what's the point of knowing it.

This place is for sharing info on tesco misprices. When the user originally posted the link (which I re-posted) was out of date then why not just say "sorry, it's out of date" rather than going off on one because tesco will find out.

The world (and probably these forums) would be a much better place if there was less big-headed, selfish, know it alls occupying it.

Got to disagree with you....do you really think that anyone in Tesco IT could get access to Tescos pricing database....Think there might be security and access limitations.Price changes will probably require several levels of authorisation before being implemented on god knows how many computer systems with a lot of this being offshored

Think you missed the point :wall: .... :)

I'm not saying that a computer programmer/operator WOULD or even COULD do this without authorisation or permission BUT IF these 1p items being sold was such a problem AND an upper/senior/financial/board level manager/director REQUESTED a print out of this information it could be on their desk within hours or a spreadsheet/report probably put up on their Intranet even sooner.

I know it's possible, I've done this sort of thing, AD HOC one-off reports for men in suits at Blue Chip companies (AND government departments)

laura_rob06 - Please read this. You seem to posting a lot, but ignoring our polite posts explaining to you why things are done a certain way on these forums.
  • All I'm trying to get across is while doing things this certain way, don't be so nasty to people if they make a mistake.

Oh, and this supposed "do not sell these items" list in the post you quoted, it doesn't exist. I've just checked with my mother who has been on the checkouts at tesco for 17 years. I'm sure they would've told her if it was real.
  • Threatening posts is not in the spirit of this forum. Therefore I have reported this post.

Two years on this forum and 21 posts does not qualify you to disrespect the genuine people who find and share the glitches. Maybe if you took the time to find and post some glitches yourself then people might take your comments seriously.

Nor is insulting people, however other users find it acceptable to basically call me thick. I'm assuming you reported them aswell.

I didn't realise you had to qualify to disrespect other users. Maybe that's how they can call me thick. They have a qualification in insulting people.
