I tried to find the sponges but couldn't. Might anyone have a picture of them that they wouldn't mind posting?

I was going to ask that, even the end of the barcode? I had a look tonight, but there was a few different ones and the store doesnt have a scanner.. so i just left it rather than buying one of each to find out if any of them were cheap!

The spontex scourers look a like the pic above but are a lighter green and yellow colour with what I think are pictures of fruit on the actual scourer.

The other spontex scourer, says non stick and is one blue sponge scourer.

Excellent, thankyou. Didn't see any with a different design on but did try scanning these in SS and they were full price. Unfortunately my store doesn't have a self scanner to check so I had to pretend to buy it then ask staff to void. I will go back and have another look tomorrow.

I went into my local Tesco today but didn't see any of the bargains everyone has been talking about, however as I was walking from the till and checking my receipt, I noticed they added an item to my bill, some conference pears. I don't like pears, so never would have bought them. It's probably down to the cashier pressing the wrong button, as I did buy some mushrooms and bananas.

Anyway, upon spotting the mistake of being overcharged by 37p, I went to CS and pointed it out, and started showing some of my shopping to indicate there were no pears, and she then gave me the 37p back. I then pointed out the DTD policy (I knew this might be a grey area, seeing as it's a general overcharge, rather than an item being the wrong price), and she then went to check with the manager. She came back to say that they only give DTD if I had actually bought something, rather than something being accidently put on my shopping bill, so I accepted the answer.

I have used the tesco comments section on my receipt to inform them of my experience in the store. Wonder if I'll hear anything back.

Just thought I'd warn everyone else to watch out for those invisible conference pears that suddenly appear in your shopping, lol.

This happened to me, I noticed after getting home i'd been charged twice for a packet of scones (2 x £1). I went back the next day, not quite sure how to prove I had only bought one pack but she gave me DTD straight back without questioning it - i guess it must be store specific? x

I had a slightly similar experience a year or so ago, it was pre Christmas when those big boxes of Thorntons were reduced to £6 a box, I bought 3 but the SA must have had £6 on the brain and typed in 6 instead of 3, so I was charged £36 for 6 boxes. Went to CS desk only expecting £18 refund but got DTD as had been overcharged, even though I technically hadn't been charged more per item than I should have been. Our CS people are very nice though in my Tesco's!

A similar thing happened to me in the summer. I got home after a large food shop at Tesco, checked my receipt and found I had been charged for a Kaftan!! I hadn't even ventured into the clothing section. I scoured the receipt to see if another item had the wrong barcode on it but it seemed that this item was additional to my shopping! I have no clue how this happened so I went to CS. They had no explanation other than perhaps a barcode for a kaftan had got stuck on another item! Unfortunately I was unaware of the DTD policy at the time so I was just grateful they believed me and refunded the £12.
It just shows though, you should always check your receipts. I know loads of people who never do. I wonder how much is made from people being charged for things they shouldn't be. It must greatly outweigh the number of savvy people on here! Tesco don't lose out at all in my opinion and I can't believe the cheek of some CS. Anyone would think it comes out of their own pockets! Push for what you can I say!! (sorry for the rant) :)

We had a similar experience last year, when my 19 year old son decided to buy a Smallville Boxset at £24.99.

He paid with his debit card without checking the till when it went through and it was only when he met me in the car park, he said he had been charged twice for it but didn't really know what to do as he didn't think they would believe he hadn't bought two. He hadn't bought anything else so I was a bit dubious if they would refund the difference as he had technically left the shop and how were they to know he hadn't bought two or why he hadn't noticed the double price in the first place.

Anyway, I went back with him and told a wee white lie that I had asked him to get them for me and he had no idea what the price would have been so didn't bat an eyelid when it came up at nearly £50.

The Customer Services Girl was really nice, laughed at his ignorance, apologised for the double charging and then refunded him DTD which gave him a bit of a shock as he was only expecting to get the overcharge back. He then left the shop feeling really guilt as he said he felt like a thief now because he was taking his boxset without paying for it.

just popped into tesco and got some iron cleaner for the 1p thankyou who ver posted it.

also just bought some minky laundry baskets, it stated on the label original price £21.00 but reduced to £14.00 althoug expiry was for last week. so it scanned at £17.50 so you would get £7.00 with dtd, (i bought 4 as i needed new ones and got £28.00 back)
