Strange one this, bear with me, lol.
Went into Mr T's in M1ddleton this morning and bought a few groceries and DVDs. One of the DVDs was Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2. It was priced at 9.00 and I was charged 14.97 so went to the CS desk. Went with the woman to the SEL to show her and she said it was strange as the barcode was different from the DVD and said she would have to speak to the manager. She came back to the desk and told me she could refund me the 14.97 and I could rebuy it at 9.00!!
I told her I expected DTD as I had been overcharged and she said it wasn't there fault as the barcodes were different meaning 'that someone must have brought this DVD in and put it on the shelf!!!!!!!' I've never heard of anything so stupid in all my life. I said who would walk in a put a 'sealed' DVD back on a shelf, with no refund, she said 'strange things do happen!' LMAO
Anyway, I said it doesn't matter if the DVD has been returned from Timbuktoo but I am still entitles to DTD as I was overchaged. She ummed and ahhed for a bit then said, I can give you DTD this time if you want (if I want, lol) and as a gesture of goodwill. I said okay, thankyou, got my DTD and left the store.
Now I've heard of some excuses in my time, but a member of public taking a sealed DVD into Tesco and leaving it in the correct place on the shelf beats the lot, lol.
Anyway, as I've rambled ... Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 - SEL 9.00 - charged 14.97 - DTD £11.94 - total to pay £3.03
i torment Mr T at M1ddleton and they use just about any excuse going not to give DTD
I got 2 sets of sony with an OOD SEL today and they tried to just give me one lot of DTD back with the lame sorry I only did one not two oops
So please keep up the good work LOL xxNo. 16 in HCCSC:jFull Time Uni Student & Glitcher :j

Did anyone else get the Cranberries labelled as £1.50 and going through the register at £3.50??? My freezer is now full of free Cranberries . I cleaned out all the Swansea area and even with the cost of petrol made a healthy profit0

Although technically we have done nothing wrong apart from take advantage of their mistake, its not stealing or fraud or anything is it?
What are everyones thoughts ?
I always use the self checkout , pay cash and never use my clubcard when shopping for "bargains". I started paying careful attention to Tesco after a series of incorrect "amount tendered" attempts at scamming a tenner out of my change and I now consider the "double the difference" promise to be a challenge worthy of the effort. When you find a DTD candidate always buy the minimum amount , checkout and load car before returning and buying all you need and claiming the DTD on the big, second sale first. Paying cash gets DTD in cash and so no paper trail. Trying it the other way round gives them time to remove the stock from the shelves before you can use your "democratic right" to let them overcharge you and may cause you grief at customer services trying to explain the two sales.0 -

You probably wouldn't recognise the place now, it has changed soo much to what you describe. Bear with me ............
There is now a huge Tesco Extra where the swimming baths/market used to be. That has all been knocked down, a huge brand new swimming/leisure centre has opened where Hippos used to be 'over the road'
Midd Arndale has been extended where the entrance to the old Tesco used to be and lots more (crap) shops added. It used to be an alright place to shop, but I only ever go in the Arndale if I need Wilkinsons or Boots, lol. The rest of the shops are tat IMO. :rotfl:
It has changed massively over the years and would be an okay shopping area if they could get a couple of big names in (Next, TK Maxx, etc).
Anyway guys ........ as you were0 -
Good post Mumbles. I was just wondering what the score is if you try to claim DTD on more than one of an item. Will they try and only pay out on one ?0

The only thing you need to be careful of is that you accompany them quickly to both SELs, as I had one where a member of CS staff clearly overheard and went and turned around the second SEL while I accompanied them to the first. Luckily they admitted it when asked so I got two DTD plus an apology gift voucher0
