IT professional = Oxymoron
Its how Vista is being pushed as where all other MS OS apart from 98 were kinda brought out with less celebration and Vista has more flaws on pre release than any other MS OS so the best thing to do is to wait 6months at least before buying/upgrading and stick with a more solid OS like XP either that or get linux

I suppose Vista will get pushed out by the computer manufacturers with their new pcs. Then the poor so-and-sos who are stuck with it can do the real Beta testing. God bless their innocent little souls.
...wait for the sp1...0 -
I preordered the full ultimate version through Amazon, but now that I've thought about it, I won't install it straight away on my laptop, will wait a month or two for bugs to be fixed etc..0

I much doubt it that Vista will be more secure, last week they've released two security patches for Vista RC1 (Release Candidate 1). It will be the same story as with every other OS they've released : "A security issue has been identified..."
I have never bought nor will buy any Microsoft products for my personal use. Unfortunately many PC manufacturers (like Dell) will not sell a PC without a Microsoft OS (apart from servers), so I do have an XP laptop, but my desktop never had a chance to run Windows, as upon delivery I've installed Linux on it. It ain't perfect, but it's free, reliable, powerful and comes with a plethora of free apps.
I will never spend my hard earned cash to buy the sad excuses for an OS Microsoft releases. Having to deal with their OS at work it's more than enough for my blood pressure. I agree their OSs have some nice features but their shortcomings, to me at least, outweight any benefits.
As I can go on forever about this, I'll leave you with one more comment: Over the last couple of decades we've seen amazing developments hardware wise, processor speeds we couldn't have even imagined, but our computers aren't getting any faster because of the bloatware they are running. Add to that antivirus and antispyware and you end up with a stuffed pig. It is really sad that sometimes the superior technologies do not become market leaders...0 -
I’m still hesitating about upgrading from DOS to Windows 3.1.:D0
