has anyone else had a refund using a barclays visa debit before 31 days? they told me it is standard for visa to wait 31 days but have read on here other people have had refunds within 2 weeks...

should i try to ring world pay?

You'll be wasting your time.

Most bank staff have little knowledge about the visa chargeback and seem to make it up as they go along! Each bank will take different amounts of time but generally it shouldn't take more than a few weeks. If they insist it takes months ask why and tell them other banks have given customers their money back within a week-mine did, I bank with Lloyds. As long as you've done all you should by telling the company you want your goods within 15 days of payment, you've requested chargeback within 120 days of purchase and if you still haven't received the goods the bank should then be able to put things in motion.

Visa have to get the money back from the businesses bank, not the seller themselves-there could be complications of course if the bank disputes this. Visa chargeback is not a legal requirement but a service that visa provide.

ok you wont believe it but i have been sort of conned twice, originally lost my fire with home firesides, still yet to be refunded, so my mum lent me some money until i get my refund, i looked around local shops for a gas fire, well the only place i could find was b&q but everything in my price bracket was brass which i didnt want, all the small local fire shops seem to have closed down in my area (northampton) so i decided to look on Ebay, i found a fire trader with top seller rating and 99.8% good feedback, i really had to read everything before buying as i am so cautious, he had the same fire for sale that i origianlly wanted from home firesides, so i bought it, it came a few days ago, all looked fine on the outside but inside the box was a completely different fire, it looked like a return and the coles are damaged, so i contact the seller, no response, so i open a case and explain, he has replied but trying to say it's impossible that he sent a different fire and that i must have got it from somewhere else etc etc...well i am shaking now, i feel a complete nerveous wreck, not only am i skint but i have been conned again! i have booked a plumber to fit it friday, but i will have to cancel now..my carpet is being put down monday, i will have to cancel that too now as the gas pipe has to be moved first......i just want to cry...where has everyone else bought their fires from??

Yes, I'm another victim of Home Firesides. I ordered a gas fire on 19th Sept, haven't received it and no reply to emails. What a waste of £215 and all the energy required to try to get the money back - presumably impossible.

how did you pay? if by visa, have you tried to get your money back through you bank?

Hey zombie_tennants - I'm also from Northampton and have lost many days of my life trying to find a nice fire! Try Barrick Gas on Kettering Road who were awesome just didn't stock what I wanted but really know what they're on about, or I'm buying with Flaming Fires and Surrounds in Kettering who have also been fantastic. Avoid Bells up Harborough Road near Kingsthorpe, they were awful, so rude and unhelpful unless you go in flashing your cash around.

thanks for your message muppet83, i tried barrick gas but i think it may have closed down? when i went, it was closed up and looked like there wasnt much stock inside? i agree 'bells' isnt a great shop i think the cheapest fire in there was around £400 or £500, i have now bought a fire from b&q, it wasnt exactly the fire i wanted but after loosing money twice (hopefully to b refunded soon?) i thought that i had better buy from a shop where i can physically see what i'am getting lol, well i have had it fitted now and it works...

Did you find them much more expensive than the internet guys? Would love to know. Which fire did you buy?

Barrick Gas are having staff issues apparently, so they're not always open. I found there prices comparable to the internet, it was a bit more but I expected that with an actual shop but still very cheap. Flaming fire and surrounds seem to be the same prices as the ones I'd looked at on the internet. I'm buying a gallery collection cast iron combination gas fire.
