  • What did trading standards say. Can they stop them trading?

Do i need to ring trading standards also.
  • I rang trading standards today, this is there leeds office number which would deal with the holmsfirth area 0113 3848848

they took all the details i had and said they would investigate.
definitely ring though, the more people complain the more seriously they will take it i guess.

i've spent some more time doing the detective work and have a comprehensive bundle of info now.
btw don't keep leaving messages on his answer phone as 0844 numbers generate revenue for him as-well if you want his home phone no. PM me ;-)
  • Hi, Yes anything you can give me would be great...happy to phone his home number and deal with this B*****d!!
  • yep, got done too by these crooks...

Been to bank, no help as paid by telex transfer from overseas direct to his account as his website would not take my Credit Card.

    Phoned Consumer Direct, no help.

    Phoned OFT, no help.

  • I ordered via the website 2 weeks ago and have been trying to contact them by phone and email ever since. Same story - all answerphone messages and no reply by phone or email. Saw these posts and resultantly I have also now informed Consumers Direct on 0845 404 0506 who will pass the information onto Trading Standards. They gave me good advice regarding the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and I have now emailed Home Firesides cancelling the order and have asent a written letter with the same details & sent via "signed for" to their registered office at 21 Clare Road, Halifax HX1 2HX. I paid using Visa Debit and I have contacted my bank's Visa Dispute team who are sending me an application form for a "Chargeback". Whether that will work, we shall have to see.
  • Thanks' for posting this, I was just about to order from them.....

  • nooooo - my boyfriend and I bought a gas fire from this website on Saturday. It is first on the list if you Google 'gas fires' so never dreamed it would be a fraudulent website. I realised today that we have not received an email confirmation, so googled them to contact them and that's when I saw this thread. My heart sank. We are doing up our first house and have bought most things 2nd hand off ebay - we were really excited to be buying a shiny new gas fire! How are companies like this allowed to take people's money?????!!
  • Ring Consumers Direct on 0845 404 0506 and they will tell you what you can do. Tell them it is Home Firesides website and that several people have reported it to them. If you paid by credit card you should be able to claim it back from the card company.

Looks like it is more cost effective to pay google adworks for being top of the list, then ripping you all off than it is for falling down the list by not paying them.

Mind you every time someone mentions his co name somewhere he goes one step up the listings, so I believe, so in effect we are helping him out !

I placed an order with Home Firesides on 28

I placed an order with Home Firesides on 28 Aug, and received no reply to my emails or telephone calls. I contacted Consumer Direct and Office of Fair Trading and made a complaint. They only offered me basic advice. I sent a letter to Home Firesides as they suggested. After reading other posts at this site, I decided to contact my Bank before I went on a five day holiday last week. I paid by Credit Card and sent copies of the emails I sent to Home Firesides to the Bank. I was contacted by telephone this morning by the Bank saying that they will process the payment back to me. I do not know how what would happen if one paid by Debit Caarrd. I have paid for a lot of things over the internet through Amazon and e-bay. There should be more done about this sort of trading. I am only a pensioner so money needs to be well spent.
