Don't know if it will do any good, or if it has be done before, but below is an email I have sent to the domain name co to their security/fraud dept.

I work in the same sector, but dont sell online, but he is giving us all a bad name and a lot more aggro from consumers.

Maybe if a lot of people do the same, it may work.

Dear sirs

I feel it polite to tell you one of your domain name clients who is fraudulently obtaining money from innocent consumers, by running a website, purchased and registered by your company.

If you Google the words firesgalore.co.uk reviews, you will see many review websites where people are reporting losing money from purchasing from the above website, with no product being sent in return.

Some links are as follows

Mr Tony Watkiss has stated that he no longer has any dealings with the above company, however if this was the case, wouldn’t the registered keeper of the site have their name on the register.

I feel that this website is putting your reputable name in a bad light, as you are also being named in discussions. Trading Standards have no jurisdiction over closing them down. There only seems to be yourselves who could do the right thing and pull the plug on him using the name for his fraudulent activity.

He is not answering any customer calls. I work in the same sector of the market as him, but do not run a website. I know for a fact that he cannot purchase over 80% of the product he has listed on the website as manufacturers and distributors will not deal with him, after losing a lot of money when he went bust in the past.

I would appreciate you looking into this matter and hopefully doing the right thing and suspending his website from general view. He also trades under the name of Homefiresides, I am not aware if this is also one of your domain names.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Your sincerely ''

Further to above, please see response from domain operator.

Dear ,
Further to your email, please note that the customer has been given till Monday 24th October 2011 at 11 am to address the alleged illegal trading issues.
Should the customer fail to respond the website will be shut down.

Please note that in respect of your Fraud related queries, it is currently being handled by our security team who can be contact via security-team@1and1.co.uk

Could you also please specify if you had made any order with this website and received no product?

If so, if you could kindly provide the order details and we can pass this onto the customer to address.

Please be aware that 1&1 Internet Limited can only take action to suspend a website.

In respect of any refund issues you may have you would need to contact your local trading standards directly, however 1&1 can still try (even though it is out of our scope) to ask the customer to look into this also.

Kind Regards,
UK Legal Department
1&1 Internet Limited

If I were you I would bombard 1&1 with your problems, hopefully get the !!!!!! taken offline. be nice to them, they are not at fault, they are not taking your money

At 12 pm today looks like firesgalore and homefiresides sites are suspended.

Can bring every other site up apart from theirs.

re check with bank as it should only be 15 days from date of purchase. I'm with LLoyds and i had my money back within a week of contacting them.
• thank goodness that 'hell' of a site has gone before any more people get sucked in, barclays told me i had to wait 30 days , i wonder if they could refund me earlier now the site has been pulled ?
• mores the point here...

why couldnt trading standards do what you guys did and get the site shut down?

Don't know how long it will be shut down for, as they have said , he has the right to appeal and prove he is acting legit.

ALL of you need to contact 1&1 and trading standards and get this rogue closed down for good.

Then you can alll go to your nearest fireplace shop and buy from them, they have been around longer than internet guys have and know what they are doing and have a good reputation. Most will do you a deal for supply only. If you want it fitting then pay the rpice they offer, after all you have a face to go back to if things go wrong.
• Further to above. I understand Worldpay pulled the plug on HomeFiresides on 11th October after representations from a number of HomeFiresides customers. We were duped along with many others. We paid using VISA debit, but after contacting them they reimbursed our money yesterday (25th). This t ook just 10days.

There is a further thread to all this. The head office address in Halifax is actually the address of a business services company who helped set up and register this company. I cannot help but think that they should have been more diligent when doing this. If they had, a lot of people would have been saved a lot of grief and heartache.

It's also made us a lot more wary of buying expensive products online.
