Hi ladies, just a quick Qu. for anyone who has been booked in for a sweep/had one in the past. Who is it that has decided to give you one, and when? Was it the m/w or a doctor? And at what stage was it discussed and/or booked? Just wondering, cos my m/w never mentioned anything about it to me, despite being v clear she thought i ought to have the baby out asap due to my pain and beans size (and referred me back to the consultant clinic end of this week at the hospital as a result). If the consultant doesnt suggest any action, what with xmas, I'll be well over 40 weeks (nigh on 42) by the time i would next be seeing the m/w, albeit she has said she doesnt want to see me again at all (last appointment was the 38 week one). So if bean hasnt come by herself, i'll be 42 weeks with no arrangements made for anything!
Bit worried that i'm falling between the care cracks as the m.w doesnt know my hospitals system, and vice versa.

    Hey Kira.

I have been offered a sweep. the midwife offered to book me on at the appointment when i was 39 weeks and 4 days she booked it for when i was 40 weeks and 1 day however baby head is not engaged so i couldnt have the actual sweep the midwife was going to do the sweep. also here they wont induce until i am 10 days over despite measuring huge! it does all vary area to area though.

Also with the sweep if baby head is not engaged it can be quite risky as they could catch the cord etc so dont let them do it unless head is engaged.

If you wanna know more maybe ask on the parenting thread as they will have done the labour etc

as for the offers keep your eyes open for the huggies newborn starter boxes when they are on offer/ reduced to £3 each buy a couple. make sure they say on the outside that they include £5 off in vouchers inside. When you open the box you will get a packet of newborn nappies, huggies pure wipes a hat and vouchers. £2 off huggies newborns which you can us to buy another box for £1! also £1 off huggies wipes which if you wait they will be on offer for £1 each somewhere.

You can go round in circles getting boxes for a £1 and a voucher. i was lucky enough to get some other vouchers for £1 off huggies so got 90% of my boxes for free.

Thanks for that - will come useful for us!!!! If OH doesn't get job offer or we decide not to take it, I will start looking for these come January!

Wow thank you so much for this :j:jI have just read it out to my OH in a military operation style, right here's what we have to do.........:rotfl::rotfl:

I had a proper look at some of the tesco money off and boots money off vouchers I had today, they make nappies pretty much half price so may as well stock up on them.

Are the Johnson's 6 packs of wipes worth it? I have loads of £1 off vouchers from tesco magazine but it is sometimes the case that others would still be cheaper even with that £1!!

Thank you soooooo much will definitely be on the lookout now!!

  • Contraception, I got pregnant in the past with a correctly fitted coil and condoms, it didn't end well. I will be using condoms this time, but I want DH to have the snip ASAP, I much prefer DTD with condoms, but after all the time of trying DH now prefers it without.

DH is generally good at doing stuff for me, but he gets gifts so badly wrong that I buy them on the joint account and show them to him, saying how much he must really love me to buy me this shiney prezzy. I think we both prefer it that way to be honest, I get exactly what I want (as I'm a bit of a control freak), he is happy that I am happy and he doesn't have the stress of choosing something for me. The exception to this is hats, he loves me to try them all on, then we choose one. He used to buy earrings so old fashioned your granny wouldn't like them and really nasty necklaces, giant cuddly toys???, half dead flowers from a garage, the foray into underwear was disastrous, tshirts, red leather gloves?, well at least he was good at picking out chocolates! I realise that this is probably not everyone's idea of romance but I like it.

Hope everyone feels good today, have a bunch of hugs from me, if you need them!

Back from the doctors, 45 minutes waiting, in a roasting waiting room, I honestly felt like I was gonna pass out, if I hadn't been seen when I did I think I would have had to leave.

Blood pressure fine, urine fine, Doc still mentioning "that's a big baby" Yeah we know, please stop mentioning it, or he's never coming out, I'll keep my legs closed forever! :o

After telling me that they'd probably induce me last time, this time she tells me "oh probably not" so if he's putting on a pound a week at this stage, if I ended up going to 42 weeks, he'd be like 14lb  NO!

  • Got to go back to M&S to change my nursing bra as I said before it feels huge! Gone from pre-preggers size 32B to a 34D - although I think the size of the bump still makes the boobs look small LOL ! The Nursing Bra I have is a 36D as this is what they measured me at and when I go home to try again they were way to big! I hate Bra shopping......

Then off to midwife for 38 week appointment!
