Still with the headache - any tips how to get rid of it???? Paracetamol doesn't help, so stopped taking it, blood pressure was fine last week, can't check now as had to take the cuff to Boots to exchange for the large one so will take a while for it to arrive. It really is getting me down, don't know what to do! If I go to GP, he will just say keep taking paracetamol and mention to midwife, but that is not going to help. Can't wait till holiday as at least I won;t have to think about the work as well - my boss seems ignorant of anything and keeps loading me with more work to do, and I keep ignoring it due to tiredness/headaches.

Peppermint tea! I discovered it by accident when I ditched caffeine when TTC. I used to get fairly regular, annoying (tension maybe?) headaches and found a cup of peppermint tea would sort it out more quickly and more effectively than any painkiller I'd tried. As far as I know it's safe in pregnancy.
  • Had my sweep a couple of hours ago, not the most pleasant thing in the world but not awful either. Apparently I'm 3cm already and everything looks 'favourable'. The weird thing was she said she could feel baby's fingers, seems like she had them on her head then moved them when there was an invader, bizarre! If anything is going to come from it then it;ll be in the next 24h apparently so have got my people on standby.

Induction booked for next Weds 21st in case this doesn't do the trick, but if I'm 3cm now I can't see it taking that long, fingers crossed!

Anyone else just got this random feeling that it won't be much longer? Lol, or had it and nothing came of it? :D No real basis for it other than the bump is very low today and movements are different.

Finally got my ball blown up, it seems to sink a long way when I sit on it though, think it needs more air? Should it be rock hard? Even though it is meant to be 65cm, when I sit on it my knees seem too high.

Off to do my tax return now just in case the sense of impending something means anything! :D

Oh, bump.... saturday before it dropped more:

How can a big baby make a small bump? I just can't seem to get the size of it on camera, it is bigger in person!

    Morning ladies.

    happydays, not something I've had......yet!!

All this talk of V-shaped pillows.......how exactly do you use them? i think my parents have one so I'll keep it in mind for later on but I haven't a clue what to do with it!!

Weird question.....has anyone else got more hair than normal on their tummy? I have got quite a bit! luckily its quite soft and downy and VERY pale but its a bit odd! DH keeps calling me a hairy bear lol!! Anyway, have googled and apparently its a 'normal' pregnancy symptom for some people but just wondered if anyone else has it?!

i have pcos so get alot of unwanted hair anyway but it does seem to be getting worse.

Has anyone else found buying baby stuff to be quite addictive? I bought about 15 things from amazon yesterday, including a baby carrying set. DH thinks he will want to carry baby everywhere instead of pushing the pram. I've told him to think thought a visit to Starbucks or Tescos, but apparently I'm being a grouch.

I'm working down my to buy list and I've got to mattress's and I've no idea which to choose. I've got a M&P cot bed that I originally bought for my sisters baby, the old mattress was thrown away years ago, and I have a vague feeling I bought two at the time, one for infants and one for toddlers. Any got any thoughts on what type is best?

My perfect sister in law had her baby boy on the 7th, in an hour, weight 7lb 13, my DH has been to visit them and I'm sure he thinks that how it 'should' be now. I'm trying to remind him not all labours are like that, but I'm being 'disparaging', he is starting to really get on my nerves now!

I've got my 32/40 scan today, then my anaesthetic review and then my consultant appointment, it's going to be a long day of hobbling around on crutches for me at the hospital, I had my first proper hormonal crying wobble at DH and best friend last night cause they cannot take me. I always seem to be the only one at the appointments by myself.

I know I'm grumpy, sorry about the moaning and thanks for listening!

i havent brought anything for baby yet, i still dont fully beleive i am actually going to get one at the end of all this, we have been given some things and have taken some bits from the mother in laws that belonged to the previous kids like the cot, pram moses basket etc but i wont be buying anything more until i get to 24 weeks

today we went to the big park in town with the dog, we was meeting up with some people from a facebook group we are members of, i was so tired after it i came home and after lunch (and de mudding the dog and kids) slept from 1pm until teatime. were off to scotland for a few days at the weekend then thats it untill the baby is born we have been advised not to travel after 24 weeks so this will be the last visit, il have to make sure i get some real bread and a steak and sausage pie for christmas.

i wish i could feel baby moving i have alot of scar tissue so dont feel the same movements as i should i really want to feel it so i can at least start to beleive its there and everything is fine.x

Im a retired Midwife (due to ill health) and had a couple of ladies who breathed their way and panted to that tune. Your Midwife might surprise you with her musical tastes and it should be your choices not hers anyway x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Good luck Jen if it is!
  • Having a few minute-long contractions at random times, not sure if it's anything or not but am recording them on my app on my phone to try and see a pattern. Gonna be an interesting night I think, even if it's not THE night.

Just remembered, going back to washing for a mo, I was in Sainsburys earlier and they had 3 for a tenner on the big bottles of Comfort and on one of the Persil small and mightys. I got two Persils and a Comfort, worked out something like 54 washes for a tenner. Seemed an ok price to me? Should I be worried about my washing liquid hoarding tho? :D

ahh dont worry i have a small and mighty 24 washes i think, two bottles of lennor and a massive box of surf (pink box) 100 washes for £8.75 in a bargain shop because its got a different language on the front and back, ive bought some so i dont need to worry about things if the weather gets bad. as well as
    5l bottle of washing liquid,
    10kg bag of rice,
    5kg of pasta,
    a large sack of spuds
    6 bars of dettol soap
    3 tubes of colgate

oh god i could go on.........as oh works all day and im a house wifey with 4 year old boy i dont want to get stuck for bits if its icy or snowy outside least i know i have the important things i think i have an ocd lol
