Well went to order our crib today and the shop had discontinued it, and the only one they had left was the display model, which I didn't want. They had swinging cribs but I want gliding. So basically travelled almost 100 miles all in, for no reason. I'm tired and emotional, I barely slept as I was up with a full bladder feeling all night.
OH's mum couldn't see why I didn't want display model (it's cream and there were little marks all over it and they weren't prepared to give us it any cheaper)
So at the moment, our baby could be potentially arriving in 4 and a bit weeks and he has nowhere to sleep
Glad to be home, OH has gone to work and I feel teary and crap tonight. I'm so tired, I just want sleep, but my body doesn't seem to want to allow. I'm also looking at baby stuff online which is potentially dangerous to my bank account. I need a hugThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Aimless - I agree re the iron thing it seems depends who you talk to, my gp did say 10.5 was ok for 34 wks but am under and have high bmi which I think is why she just wants me to do what I can.
Bumpmakes4 - Does oh get a reward for good behaviour? :rotfl:that was quite impressive.

Bubs is now occasionally hurting good and proper when he hits something  can see this is going to be fun, just hope he cant do damage...

Question what sort of changing mats have people bought? Some of them are ££££, for something which is gonna be covered in poo and pee, I'm not impressed.
Also the people planning on breast feeding has anyone bought a feeding cushion/support thing? They're supposed to help if you have problems with positioning etc, but not sure if it's gimmicky? The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

((((hugs)))) Gilly!
Sorry your day wasn't as good as you'd hoped. I too wouldn't want the display model, especially if they weren't prepared to give you any discount! I don't quite understand how they think they can sell it for the same price as a new one, if it's not in the same condition! Don't stress though, I'm sure you will find a replacement one soon enough.
I'm trying to find a few bits online, but not having much luck. I need a few more clothes, as I feel like I wear the same thing, day in day out, and while I don't want to spend much more money on maternity clothes, I still potentially have up to eight weeks or so before Pip could arrive so I think I should at least look... Plus I'm sure there was something else I was wanting to look at but I can't for the life of me remember what it was... I clearly need to start writing things down!
The antenatal workshop today was good. Lots of information, but not too overwhelming! Am actually feeling quite prepared, mentally, for the whole 'labour' thing...:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

Black swan..not seen it!What's it about..I'm intrigued!
Yes DH gets a reward..he gets beer and an indian takeaway tonight
Hugs Gilly xx
Re the changing mats..I bought 2 fisherprice rainforest mats(one for upstairs, one for downstairs)they match the bouncer and cot mobile and were only a tenner each from kiddicare. And how crappy is that about that cribDon't fret though because my bump is coming in 9 days and we only just got the cot.Again we got it from Kcare because I like their one hour delivery slot
I never bought a proper support pillow,I use a firm ortho pillow from dunelm and use it between my knees now then for feeding afterwards xxSlightly mad mummy to four kidlets aged 4 months,6,7 and 8:D:D xx

.......... re the breastfeeding pillows MW at the workshop said dont need special pillows any pillows will do as long as they support the weight of baby and are comfortable but she did say the 'V' shaped pillows are good and they are not special breastfeeding pillows so shouldnt be expensive. We already have a v shape one anyway.
Changing mats - the big one was from a carboot but the other travel ones are the one in the free boots parenting bag, one free in a huggies set, 2 I bought and another in the posh changing bag. I have a ridiculous number of travel changing mats  Again you dont actually need one at home can use a thick towel and use a freebie one for when you are out.

Ooh I love the rainforest ones on kiddicare Bump they have giraffes, I'm in, I love my giraffes
You're experienced with these things so I may go for that one! Thanks xx
The crib thing is annoying but just had a look on Tesco and they have some lovely ones and OH's Grandpa gave us some Tesco saving stamp things for Christmas, so thinking of using them, since we don't really shop there, will save us a bit of money tooJust annoying as the crib in this shop was so sturdy and so cheap  they were selling them off and now we're gonna have to pay almost double

I love giraffes too!!So far Jack(bump)has a big mummy giraffe holding a baby as his first teddy...the kids have been practicing putting nappies on it this afternoon
He has a mini giraffe plus a hippo and lion cuddlies.he has the rainforest bouncer plus changing mats, bath mat and toy tidy all complete with giraffes. The cot mobile has a penguin, giraffe and hippo on too,his cot sheets have an embroidered giraffe on and one of the fleece blankets does aswell..are you spotting a theme here?
