Oh I knew I was destined for a big baby, hoped not, but accepted it :o Only good thing is, they have the weight to fall back on I guess.

hello everyone! Hoping you can help someone out who's new to this pregnancy lark (7 weeks today).:D

It's my work Christmas meal in a couple of weeks and the place we're going does not have a choice of starter so everyone is having:

Bayonne Ham, Saucisson Sec, smoked duck breast with roquefort salad, served with provencale !!!!aladiere (don't know what that is!) with goats cheese and olives.

Is ANY of this safe for pregnant women? Are these all cured meats does anyone know? I presume the roquefort & goats cheese is off limits. It's only a small group of us so I can't ask for something else as everyone will notice (plus they know I'm def not a fussy eater!) I've got a great (and true!) excuse to avoid booze and can't believe I'm being tripped up by the s0dding starter!

Thank you!

Oh dear.... someone wrote the perfect menu not to serve PG women! Cured meats should be avoided - the saucisson is out, and smoked meats also out, so likewise the duck. Goats cheese isnt out of a matter of course, it will be whether or not it is pasturised or not that seals it. Unfortunately, many soft goats cheeses are not pasturised, and hence not safe. Likewise the roquefort is unsafe being soft and blue. They MUST have a vegetarian option they can offer.

Oh I think I may have sorted it myself :o

I'm sending my old phone away to Boots Recycle ( I know you probably have nothing to do with them ) and had requested an envelope but it was 3 weeks ago, so I was wondering if I could just send my own jiffy bag with the stuff I printed out inside it.

Managed to re register though and will post it today.

Yeah, that's done by an external agency, based in Scotland I think, so am not sure! I wouldn't see why you couldnt send it in your own jiffy bag though.

I have found an email address if that's any use... customercare@bootsrecycle.com

Well, I haven't even felt pressure down below, despite the MW telling me I was 'firmly engaged' last time I saw her. I've had a couple of period type pains, but they've been prevalant throughout the pregnancy so far.
Keey, you said your stomach is a little upset? Mine too, but had put it down to eating rubbish (bored in house!) and really interrupted sleeping patterns.
TBH, I think I'm maybe starting to look for signs, as I'm a tad bored watching reruns of Dragon's Den and chasing a cat that's desperately foraging for food in the house at every oppurtunity- she's enough weight to open the kitchen cupboards even when I added mag sliders to them!
Gilly, you'll be fine. 11th Jan is DH's birthday!

Yeah-i first thought it could be the iron tablets but stopped taking them and it's still a bit dodgy.

I admit to watching out for signs, but at night i just want to sleep and these pains woke me up and stopped me from sleeping. I usually love my sleep-so this pregnancy is driving me mad in that sense!

Well midwife popped in, it was a short visit to check my bp before she had to dash off to see a lady in labour (lucky cow! :p) . My bp is good still, and midwife seems to think these pains im getting is a good sign. Still keeping everything crossed!

keely.

Rebekah - Hope you're taking advantage and running the hoover round! Only joking :p. Still take it easy so you don't zap all your energy whilst it's here :)

kira, 4annabella - thanks about the BP advice. Not sure who mentioned it :)

Colli - congrats! As the other ladies said, those meats are to be avoided, so I'd maybe ring ahead and ask for a veggie starter option. Veggie would probably also be safer for your main too, as pink meats (i.e. medium steaks) aren't recommended. Just tell your colleagues that you didn't fancy those "fancy meats" :rotfl:

b*gger, thought as much! They do have a veggie option but it's on a different set menu and I'm wary about causing too much of a palaver, especially as my colleagues know how much I love meat and cheese!

Thanks for the congrats, it's very nice to be here :D
