Well my scan is the 11th, and the doc said it's usually 24/48 hours after they'l take you in, my Dad is the 13th, phoned him there to say "you could have a birthday baby"
Doc said they may give me a sweep if it's at all possible, and send me home, tell me to wait a week and then if nothing, then come in to be induced, think I'd be a bit happier with that tbf
We've not even ordered our crib! Let's hope there isn't a long wait for delivery :eek:The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I've had growth scans and been measured- the last growth scan at 32weeks said bean was at the far upper ranges of "normal", since then, i've been measured, and am 4 weeks ahead of where i ought to be.... I actually would rather she referred me back for another scan, if i am still measuring ahead today, than just leaving it. It feels a bit disjointed with the care being in two different areas. We will have to see what happens today.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Well, I haven't even felt pressure down below, despite the MW telling me I was 'firmly engaged' last time I saw her. I've had a couple of period type pains, but they've been prevalant throughout the pregnancy so far.
Keey, you said your stomach is a little upset? Mine too, but had put it down to eating rubbish (bored in house!) and really interrupted sleeping patterns.
I've been getting period type tummy and back pains for about a week, more noticably during the night - woken me up a few times.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I'm on shared care too, and I feel a bit like that. Also really really annoys me that every time I go to my GP's for a check up, they're running at LEAST 20/30 minutes late, (I have morning appointments too, usually 9.30, it opens at 9?) and the GP won't check my urine, she sends me to the treatment room, so then I have to wait to be seen there.
There was a locum in a few weeks ago as my GP was on holiday and she checked it for me, so why can't my usual doc do it?
Well I wasn't convinced they'd actually do anything about it either, because people keep telling me "oh they don't induce for big babies now" but then my argument is, why send me back for a scan at 36 at all then?

No one has measured me with a tape measure at all, they're only going with babies measurements from scan
I know, the only thing with being induced as early, is you're at higher risk of c section I've been toldwhich is kinda sucky, but oh well.
My midwife measured me last couple of appointments, one was 'top end of normal' and the second was fine. Funny thing was, the second one was a couple of days after I had a scan and they told me baby was over 6 pounds at 34 weeks. She did ask in passing if they'd given me a consultants appointment because baby was big, but no-one mentioned one. Not sure if that is because I wasn't there for a growth scan, they just had a look while I was scanned for something else. I think up to 9 pounds I wouldn't panic about, as I've had a big one before, but over that who knows!
According to the antenatal class I went to, you're more likely to get a section with induction for failure to progress in labour, as the body wasn't ready when you started. So, though it would be bad if you ended up with one, it wouldn't necessarily be a rushed emergency one, more a considered decision that maybe it was time to give up and get baby out. However, lots of people are induced and don't have one.0 -

I hate that! Our m/w clinics are tuesdays 2-3.30 only, so i always ask for 2 or 2.30 and i am ALWAYS called in late. In fact last time, i had the first appointment at 2pm, and the midwife wasnt even in the building when i arrived!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

The m/w measures the height of your uterus (fundus). It should be 1cm for every week, so if you suddenly start to measure significantly ahead of your actual ages by weeks, then they may refer you back for another scan to check. (Hence me measuring 38 weeks when i was only 34 weeks). Plus if you start to show sugar in urine or other things, they may also send you for rescan, to be sure on size..Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Hey everyone -
Gilly - thanks for the advice of not talking for the BP reading. I can't remember if I was talking, but I'll be quiet on Thurs at my next appt and see if it makes any difference.
How big was beanie measuring at the scan? As you know, I'm plus size too and I have growth scan just before xmas, but the mw has also measured my tummy since my 25w appt (all on track), so I assumed that they would do this for everyone regardless of size, even if it might not be 100% accurate
Kimmilew - HUGE congrats Enjoy your mummy cuddles.......
MSM - Good luck!TTC #3..........0 -

Well 2 weeks ago, mines was measuring 3lb 6, that was at 29 weeks. She said it was likely he'd put on 1 and a half to 2 pounds by the time he get's to 32, and then his weight would double from 32 to 40. That's scary haha.
I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed, that if I do get induced everything goes wellHe's head down and my bump is quite low already, so maybe he'l decide it's time to come first.
