    Hey everyone -

Gilly - thanks for the advice of not talking for the BP reading. I can't remember if I was talking, but I'll be quiet on Thurs at my next appt and see if it makes any difference.
How big was beanie measuring at the scan? As you know, I'm plus size too and I have growth scan just before xmas, but the mw has also measured my tummy since my 25w appt (all on track), so I assumed that they would do this for everyone regardless of size, even if it might not be 100% accurate :)

Not sure it was me who said that :o think it was Annabella?

Baby was measuring 3lb 6oz at my 29 week scan :o I only had the scan at 29 as it's the "norm" for my area, I got my 28 week check up at the hospital, so they pop you on the bed for a scan anyway, it was a quick look to get measurements though, that was it.

Did you mean me? I think it was me who said about talking. Its worth telling the Mw thats what you are doing, as otherwise they try and ask you stuff and get narked if you dont respond!

My bean was measuring 4lb 11oz at my 32 week scan. At 28+6 weeks i was measuring 29 weeks, so about right, and by 34 weeks, had shot up to 38 weeks.

The m/w measures the height of your uterus (fundus). It should be 1cm for every week, so if you suddenly start to measure significantly ahead of your actual ages by weeks, then they may refer you back for another scan to check. (Hence me measuring 38 weeks when i was only 34 weeks). Plus if you start to show sugar in urine or other things, they may also send you for rescan, to be sure on size..

    Thanks!!! I'm so clueless :o

  • Sat here starving waiting for my new phone to be delivered...I'm hungry but can't leave the house and the fridge is empty :(
Try not to panic too much those of you having big babies. With my first one he was 10 days late and they told me he was going to be huge and estimated 9lbs 6oz.Out he popped and was 7lbs 8oz.He was realllllly long at 59.5cms but skinny so that was misleading on scans.
Then a growth scan estimated my middle one at 2lbs 9 at 26 weeks, she was in distress, they delivered her a few hours later and she was 1lb 9oz..a whole pound out!
Then(!)with my third they mentioned she was average and she was born at 36 weeks weighing 8lbs 2 so she'd have been HUGE if I'd gone to 40 weeks.Just bear in mind they don't always get it right(in my case wrong all 3 times).
Starting to lose sleep worrying about my induction now...13 sleeps
    Hope everyone is well xxxxxx

Here they don't take length into consideration at all when estimating weight which I think is weird, they lean heavily on abdomen/head circumference, no idea why.

Oh that's odd. They use femur length, abdominal circ and head circ here. This bump is measuring 2 weeks and a few days ahead..guess we'll see on the 19th!

Gah just lost my post. Not negative for once! Had huge tea with steak last night. Was craving bad. Ate it all. Then slept the whole night minus some wee wee stops lol - 11 hours! The best nights sleep since I was like 4 weeks pregnant! I am now 7 week dr dated me as. I know he is 2 days out though as I had a longer than 28 day cycle. Wow I feel better for once today. Better make the most of it while I can!!

I wouldn't worry too much if I wasn't a 6 pounder at birth who somehow produced an 8 pound 10 baby last time round. :D I'm only short too, but had a long thin baby with a big head! My other half was apparently 8 pounds, but more belly than anything, so I'm hoping even if this one is bigger, it won't be all head like last time! :D I've been thinking all along this could be a big one, but with a big gap and a different other half, I have no way of predicting.

It is, isn't it, I don't think he's very long though, just a wee chub. Bless.

I'd rather wait anyway, OH has some important exams in January, but as the saying goes babies come when they're ready.

Aimless I've said it loads on here haha but I'll talk about it again, OH was the small of his 3 siblings and he was 8lb 9oz, (he was term) I was born at 34 and a half weeks and was 6lbs 1oz I think  was such a lanky thing though.
