Well, Just back from my 36 week m/w appointment! Good news is looks like beanies growth spurt has stopped! YAY! She measured me at 37.5-38w (was 38w last time), so (as i'm 36+6) i've gone back to being 1-2 weeks out, which is considered fine. She had a good feel, and unlike last weeks m/w, was confident she could feel what was what. Good news alround. Bean is still head down, and now lying slightly on her side, on my left side, which is apparently pretty optimal, PLUS she is already 3/5 engaged! I KNEW i could feel her lower down- much more uncomfortable and difficult getting up from sitting and walking upstairs than it has been. All in all, good result. BP was nice and low too, so the hypnotherapy CDs seem to be working!

We have agreed that cos of xmas closures, we will move my 38w appointment to next week when i'll be 37+6 instead of week after. I've seen her before, and of all the m/w's she is the cool nice one, so chuffed i get her next week too!

Oh sounds like he needs a kick !! a big one!!!!!

Can you give mine a kick too? Before i went out to my m/w appointment, i needed the loo, and we only have an upstairs one. I said at the foot of the stairs, "I wish we had a down stairs loo, cos with beany where she is, this is really starting to hurt having to go up when i'm bursting".

Queue DH " Well as long as you take it slowly, its probably good for you".
!!!!!! has it being painful walking upstairs to pee, got to do with it being good for me. Grrrrrr. I volunteered to knee him in the balls next time he needs a pee, so that i can tell him walking upstairs in pain whilst bursting for the loo, is good for him, so we can see what he thinks about that.

Thanks Keely that's really sweet. I had high bp from the age of 17, but it dropped last year, so I've been off all medication for 18 months. As soon as I fell pregnant it shot way up (160/136 was the high point when I had to speak to the mother in law, but 150/120 was standard) so I'm back on hospital care. My meds seemed to be working (only 4x 250mg Methyldopa atm as I'm asthmatic so others are ruled out) but it is creeping back up it seems, so need to watch that and work out if we need to add another tablet to the mix. Currently down to around 130/95 (up from the low of 120/80 where it lolled for a fortnight or so).

Are they still hopeful of a natural birth for you? My mum has the same bp issues, went onto hospital bed rest at 25 weeks with both of her pregnancies, and had an emergency c-section at 36 weeks, so I guess it hasn't really occurred to me that I might do this naturally.

During my 1st pregnancy-they obviously didn't know how i would cope with labour and decided they didn't want me to go over my due date so booked me in for an induction two days early. I think the plan was to monitor me, see how i got on and take it from there.

I didn't make it to my due date though :o I had a natural labour and birth, a quick one too. I coped a lot better then i had expected-and happily suprised the midwives and my consultant.

This time around I have managed to control my bp much better and sooner, so they aren't too worried now. There has been no mention of induction or c-section.

I'm booked in for the day before my due date to see my consultant-just for a routine check up to see how i am doing (if i haven't had the baby by then of course). Fingers crossed i do go early-as i know they still don't want me going over ideally.

I really hope you get it under control, do you do a stressfull job or anything? I would try my best to relax, not over do it work wise and if possible have naps/rest.

I assume they would book you in for c-section if your bp shot up and you developed pre-eclamsia, or if they thought you couldn't cope with natural birth or baby was in distress.

Hi ladies, wondering if I may pop my head around the door?

I had my 12 weeks scan today, baby was too snug to see much at first and then started wiggling about like a mad thing! I was put back to 11+3 and have been asked to come back next week as they weren't able to do nuchal test/accurately date due to baby's poistion and not being far enough gone. Has anyone else had this? Of course I'm very excited to get another chance to see baby (and get more photos!) but for some reason, it's left me feeling a little down and I'm not sure why.

    Thanks :)

Hi hon. feel free to pop in whenever! I havent personally had to have an NHS rescan due to positioning, but our bean has been very difficult at nearly every scan, so that some sessions have been very long as they try to get the measurements. I know that plenty of ladies on the threads HAVE had to go back for another shot, so really it is common and nothing to stress about! Plus, as you say, its another opportunity to see your little beanie one!

I did go back 3 times for our 4d private scan, as bean was refusing to show her face till the last time!

Hello :j I had my first scan too early as well and had to go back about a week later for the nuchal test. I remember every day counted for me (still does) so being put back a few days did kind of upset me! I am not very patient either!

    Congrats on your pregnancy xx

  • I am now a boldie  No sign of impending labour though.

Had a bit of a scare earlier when I got on the scales, as I appear to have gained 9lb in a week. I called the midwife, and she said not to worry, but if I get any headaches that won't shift, or reduced movements, to go and get checked out. I've obviously just eaten a LOT more than I realised in the last week :o

It's a pretty stressful job aye, last year I was off for knee surgery, which triggered the bp returning to normal on its own.

My mum never had pre-eclampsia, just suddenly none of the meds were controlling the bp so they decided the babies had to get out quickly. They've already mentioned a c-section as a possibility, but it's too early to know what's going to happen I guess. I'm just trying to take it one appointment at a time and enjoy the journey.
