  • my first daughter was 26 weeks she was in nicu until her edd touch and go on more than one occasion, it was the most frightening time of my life. she is fine now has some eczema and asthma but is fine

second daughter was 24 weeks, I had spontanious ruptured membranes (waters broke) at 18 weeks and was in hospital from then on) she was the most frightening one, they initially wasnt going to do anything because i was 23+6 but they luckily helped her, she came out of nicu when she was 7 months and went into manchester sick kids, they then found out she had glycogen storage disease and needed special help. she has a gasteostemy, well a mi key button now but she can eat non solids, considering her condition she is fine.

third daughter was 30 weeks. she was ok ish she was only in nicu for 2 months then in a normal fish bowl type thing until her edd she is absoloutley fine now, no problems

they all have bad chests in the winter and get pnumonia alot but they are happy and healthy, we decided to try for one more baby (we have lost a few) but this is definatley the last. I dont know why i cant keep babies in for long enough but im sure this baby will be fine like the others.

i havent had a big bleed yet but every day i am waiting on it.

Wow...what a rough time you've had :( Will keep everything crossed that you keep this one cooking till mid 30s at least. If anyone deserves some luck you sure do!! x
My DD has a Mickey button too..you don't meet many other mums with kids with them so it's "nice" to talk to you.My DD has started to eat solids too but has dysphagia so can't have unthickened liquids. She had a few ops blah blah but is amazing.
Ironic thing is my full termer is the one with most issues really..he has aspergers/ADHD/dyspraxia.
You must be very very proud of your kids, they sound like real fighters.Hope that big bleed never happens xxx

I keep getting emails from all the baby clubs I've signed up to saying I should now be sorting out my hospital bag... Guess I'd better get on that then... :rotfl:

Can't believe I'm now 31 weeks... I think I'm in denial at the moment... It's going so fast!

thanks, yeah im really proud of them they are fantastic kids. i dont know if dd2 will ever eat solids properly but she tries and thats all i ask. the sensation of actual food being in her mouth makes her sick but they say that happens, she is seven now and has had the mi key for 5 years she had the long horrible gasteostemy tube before that and the ng before that, so she has never actually needed food. people look at her and feel sorry for her. but really its them we feel sorry for because they dont understand that its normal for her to have a tube and its there problem not hers. she went to a normal school (home educated now) and led a completley normal life, ok no pe or anything but normal in comparison to how it could have been.

i think if i made it to 32 weeks i would be more than happy with that to be honest.. and the good thing is they (obs etc) are fully prepared to get baby out if needed. chances of this one having the same disease are over one in a million so were not overly worried about that.

  • It is a bit toe curling.Let me warn you of one thing, and please do not let this put you off because I think it's FAB you're going to give it a go!
Remember the after pains get worse with each baby, and breast feeding intensifies the pain as it makes the uterus contract,so be ready to ask for painkillers to deal with the first few days. That's just my personal experience though.Good luck xx

They dont get worse at all, stop scaring the poor woman.

I didnt get any with #1, badly after #2 and none again after #3.

    Not everyone gets afterpains.

Oh our girls are the same age.DD was 7 in september :) She had an NG for the first 29months of her life then went in to have a fundoplication operation as her reflux was horrific and they fitted the long frekka peg with the triangle on it-do you mean that? Then after ripping that and her stomach wall out going down on a slide she got the mickey at 5.DD eats bits in the day but then has pump feeds all night plus top ups in the day.We get the Ahh poor thing comments too but tbh DD is so used to it she just gets on with it x
Sending loads of positive "make it to 32 weeks" vibes xxxxx

You are the first person I've ever met who has said that their pains didn't worsen.Wasn't trying to scare her,and I did put "that is my own personal experience though" at the end.Was just trying to be helpful.
    Fine I'll stop posting.sorry.

Speaking of hospital bag, I've not even made a list of what I need to be getting, never mind pack it  think that may be my plan for this afternoon :o
